"Don't forget."

The young male snapped his eyes open to the dark abyss, a minute light shining above his head fruitlessly. He couldn't see past his slender fingers and boot-clad feet, the faded colors of his sweats mixing with the obsidian.

"Don't forget."

The voice resounded and screeched, echoing in his heart and screeching against his mind. The sheer sense of deja vu washed over him, followed by the utter fear the voice entails. The emotions that coursed through his body were like a wave, confounding even the slightest bit of knowledge.

"Don't forget."

He flinched, twisting his body around in a snap of a second, hoping to see even a fleeting image of what just called to him. Instead, he was met with the same pitch darkness, taunting him towards the infinite directions that besieged him.

Minutes passed by. His vision darted around, looking for some sign of life other than him. Then, he came to a standstill. His ears tuned into the sheer silence around him, begging to hear even the slightest sliver of noise. The slightest breath entered his ears. The rapid pounding of his heart rang in his ears. Other than that, there was only silence.

He was going insane.

He smacked his thin lips once, the almost inaudible noise resounding in his brain. His jaw lowered ever so slightly as he took a breath from his mouth, letting out slow puffs of air. He quickly lifted and lowered his neck, as if about to say words that wouldn't leave his mouth. A sound begged to escape the strings of his vocal cords, wanting to tunnel out of his throat and past his parted lips. It was to no avail, for no sound would escape.

I just need something...anything...

His wish was granted as mere seconds later, voices shrieked around him.

"Don't forget-""Don't forget-""Don't forget-""Don't forget-""Don't forget-""Don't forget-""Don't forget-""Don't forget-"

Don't forget.

His own voice boomed in his head, forcing him to scramble backward in search of some sort of reality. Yet the wall he wished to slam into never appeared. Instead, he was forced back into the dominating silence.

Once again, his heart roared, and his mind raced. He panted and panted. That was all he could do—breathe. It was the only indication of a slight control over his own voice, an innate part of him that he should have control over.
