Female! reader | SFW | Viktor never liked balls or crowded places, but he can't help but enjoy your company while dancing.

Viktor had never been someone who enjoyed much being or interacting in crowded places, and that's how it's been since he can remember. Socializing wasn't one of his strengths, but he managed to do it when forced to... just like now. Jayce asked him to accompany him to one of the balls hosted by Counselor Medarda, with the excuse of seeing a drunk Professor Heimerdinger; the thought got him curious, so he accepted.

He regretted it as soon as he stepped into the ballroom. There were too many people, more than he thought, and all of them wanted to talk and dance with Jayce.

At first, he tried to help Viktor start a conversation, introducing him to some patrons for their research and making jokes with his natural charisma, but when his eyes laid on Mel Medarda, Viktor knew that his friend's priorities were already taken.

He managed to sneak away from the conversation between Jayce and Mel, since he had enough with listening to him talk about her while working together in the lab. With the help of his cane, he sat down in one of the luxurious couches the room had, watching couples dancing in the middle of the dance-floor and groups of friends laughing at each other's jokes; he would've loved to feel comfortable in that environment, but it was difficult for him. A bunch of people looking directly at him wasn't much of his liking.

Perhaps if I wasn't so shy, or if it wasn't for my leg...

He sighed, turning his head towards the exit.

Jayce won't notice if I leave now, the exit is pretty close and-

"Viktor?"

He'd recognize that voice anywhere.

There you were, showing that bright smile that always showed up when his name left your lips, wearing an ocean blue dress that was molded into your body to perfection. You worked together on the Atlas Gauntlets prototype since you had tons of knowledge in the mining and geology field. You worked together in his lab for months, enough for Viktor to catch feelings for you: the way you hugged him joyfully when the prototype's equations turned out right, the light touch of your hand above his to cheer him up, the glow in your face anytime you talked about a precious stone you liked or about the plans you had for the future. You were like a ray of light, and Viktor had lived in the shadows for way too long.

Your smile got a little wider when you noticed a particular spark in Viktor's amber eyes while he contemplated you in that dress. You choose it because it was the same color as the Hextech gemstones you worked with every day in the lab, after all, as a geology researcher, you'd been fascinated by them. The beam that escaped Viktor's lips made you realize he noticed the subtle detail.

"Is this seat taken?" You asked, holding two champagne glasses in your hands.

"Not at all, take a seat." He replied, giving you a space next to him on the couch.

You sat next to him, maybe a little closer than he expected, and you couldn't help but feel satisfied when you noticed the minuscule trembling that ran through his body because of the proximity. You lifted u one of the glasses you had, offering it to him; to your surprise, Viktor accepted it with an intrigued look, drinking from it while he turned his eyes to the crowd.

"I thought you weren't fond of these events." You commented, drinking from your champagne glass. Viktor couldn't help but stare at your lips, red wine lipstick on top of them, leaving a lipstick stain on the glass you held. He was nervous, you could tell by the way he fidgetted with his champagne.
