Soul Calibur VI- Nozomi Kikumoto

A lone girl ran through the dark forest, panting and constantly looking back behind her. Fear covered her face and when she turned back in front of her, she gasped. She ran straight into a man with brown hair and tan skin. Both fell down to the ground from the impact and grunted.

The girl wasted no time and hurried to get up. She stumbled a few times before getting back on her feet. "Kilik!" She heard another female voice from the right. She looked to her right and saw a girl and a man running towards her and the brown haired man.

She gasped quietly and took off in the direction she was heading. She heard a faint "wait!" and payed it no mind as her mind was in a panic.

With the small group of three, they looked where the girl had disappeared in the trees before hearing leaves crunching behind them. They all turned, alarmed.

From the bushes, three lizardmen stepped into the small clearing. The three travelers silently complained while getting into battle stances.

A brown haired woman sat at a lake, combing through her short, uneven hair, and humming a calm melody.

"Usagi usagi
Nani mite haneru
Juugoya o-tsuki-sama
Mite haneru

Usagi usagi
Nani mite haneru
Juugoya o-tsuki-sama
Mite haneru"

She softly glided her hand across the water and stood up, stumbling from her wounded leg. She groaned quietly in silenced pain. She began walking across the grassy field when she heard a distance voice.

"Hey!" She turned around and saw a man with raven hair running at her. She gasped out when his body made contact with hers. "Watch out!!" He yelled, wrapping his arms around her. They fell to the ground and rolled multiple times until the man was on top. He quickly stood up and pulled out his nunchaku.

Before him stood another lizardman, who snarled and growled at him. The woman gasped sharply and sat up, pulling away unconsciously. She pulled out a folding fan. It was bigger than any normal fan and had small golden designs in the wooden guard.

"Attacking a young, defenseless girl, pathetic." The dark haired man teased. The two engaged in battle quickly, without wasting time. The clashing of their weapons against each other echoed in the trees.

In the end, the mystery hero won the battle, quite easily, truly. While the two were in combat, the teal eyed woman quietly began sneaking away. And when the man noticed her gone, he turned around and looked to where he saw her peeking from behind a tree.

He put a small smirk on his lips. "You can come out now. I'm not going to hurt you." He reassured. The girl flinched and hid again.

She placed her hand on the bark and slowly peeped around the tree again. She looked frightened and hesitant, as her lips were pouted and her eyes had small, almost unnoticeable tears. She shakily stepped out, her fan closed tightly in her left hand. "I-I've seen y-you." She stuttered softly.

The man paused before realization crossed over his face. "You're that girl that ran into Kilik a few days ago!" He exclaimed.

The woman flinched and nodded slightly, stopping in front of the tree. "And you are?" She asked, looking at him momentarily.

He smirked once more and put his hand on his hip, leaning on one leg. "I'm Maxi. Surely you've heard of me." He said cockily.

The anxious girl shook her head softly. "I'm Nozomi." She smiled slightly, placing a hand over her chest. "Thank you for helping me."

Nozomi ran through bushes and passed trees as fast as she could. Her tearful eyes brightened when she saw who she had been looking for. She let the tears fall down her reddened cheeks as she rammed into Maxi's front, wrapping her arms tightly around his torso.

The man grunted and turned to look down at her while she buried her face in his chest. He smiled lightly at the sight of the short woman. "You're okay." She mumbled into his chest.

Maxi was about to respond when they heard the bushes rattling. Nozomi gasped softly and turned around to face the direction she came from. Through the bushes, two lizardmen stepped forward. Maxi glared and was about to push Nozomi behind him.

She evaded his movements and stepped in front of him, glaring at the soulless creatures. "I can handle this." She assured, full of determination.

Maxi looked at her in surprise before smirking. "Alright then." He said.

Nozomi pulled out her folding fan and opened it. The inside was a mint green with pink cherry blossom designs. Holding her fan in her left hand, she slid another fan from her right sleeve, gripping it in her hand. She opened the second one to reveal lavender with golden leaf designs on the inside.

She got into a battle stance, preparing for the lizards to attack first. The first one swung at her and she countered with her tessen. She threw a kick and sent the creature back. The second one came from her right and slammed its axe towards her. She moved quickly in a dance-like fashion and dodged, with the exception of part of her right sleeve being cut.

As the battle carried on, Nozomi attacked and dodged as if she were dancing. Her movements were light and careful, but strong and calculated. In the end, she defeated both of the lizardmen with mild injuries. "Huh... I won." She said, surprised. "Whoa! Maxi! Did you see that? I won!" She cheered.

She turned around with a proud smile and it fell when she didn't see Maxi behind her. "Maxi?" She asked. She slid her fans back into her sleeves and walked around the area looking for him. Tears slid out of her eyes and down her cheeks. "That's right... Maxi isn't here right now... he was fighting that monster..." She mumbled to herself. Her lips trembled and her eyes became glossy with unshed tears.

She looked around herself one more time before she looked down and hugged herself. "I really am so tired... imagining things that aren't there. I must be going crazy." She muttered. Her eyes fell closed. "And I got separated from Kilik and Xianghua earlier, too." Her eyes opened. "I really am hopeless." She cried softly. She slowly let herself fall to the ground as she cradled herself in her arms.

Suddenly, after minutes, she heard rustling from the bushes. Her head snapped upward towards them, mumbling "no" repeatedly. To her surprise, she saw a slightly familiar man run out of the bushes. Her eyes widened while the man paused his running.

He panted and looked down at her, realization crossing over his features. "You're with them." He said quietly. Nozomi quickly stood up at stared at him with her lips separated and her eyes wide.

"It's you." She murmured.

He ignored her statement. "Let's go. I'm going after your friend." He informed. Nozomi's eyes lit up and she nodded. Trusting both Groh and her instincts, they both took off in the direction he was already running.
