Colorful ceremonial banners of the Nine Realms adorn the room, crowded with Aesir and representatives from across Yggdrasil, all buzzing with excitement.
Thor's comrades enter and stride to their place of honor at the front of the hall. They are The Warriors three. And the beautiful warrior maiden: Sif.
"I hope this goes quickly. I'm famished." Volstagg says
"No!" Fandral yells feigning disbelief, mocking the warrior.
"Are you attached to that pretty face of yours? Because one more word, and you won't be." Volstagg says "My, we are hungry, aren't we?" Fandral asks as the others
The others laugh, save Hogun. Fandral turns to him.
"Go on, Hogun. Smile. You can do it. Even you, Hogun the Grim. Just one smile." Fandral pleads
Hogun stares at him grimly.
"All right, half a smile. Look, forget the smile, just show some teeth." Fandral says
"Fandral, is it true the famous Warriors Three are ready to meet any challenge?" Sif asks
"Name it, Lady Sif." Fandral says "Keep your mouth shut." Sif says
Imposing Einherjar guards clad in armor, swords at the ready, stand watch inside the massive underground structure beneath the palace. A cold breeze blows past them.
....
Thor stands, his fingers nervously drumming the handle of his hammer. Frigga approaches behind him and sees his anxiety.
"It's all right to be nervous." Frigga says "Why does everyone keep saying that? I'm not nervous!" Thor exclaims
"You may be able to fool the rest of Asgard--" Frigga starts "...but never you. I know." Thor says "Thor, just remember that you have something even the great Allfather never had." Frigga says
"And what is that?" Thor asks "Me for a mother." Frigga says
She smiles. Thor blows out a puff of air. "She's beautiful, she'll be a wonderful bride," Frigga reassures
"I don't know her mother, how can I love her." Thor asks "This ceremony is only to introduce her back into Asgard, to introduce her to the future king, you. You will come to love her." Frigga says
Thor looks down at Mjolnir, his grip whitening. Frigga looks saddened, she understands the burden. Frigga takes a deep breath, forcing a smile.
"Now don't keep your father waiting," Frigga says
Frigga leaves.
....
Sif and the Warriors Three still wait before the crowd. Loki and Frigga enter. Loki takes his place at the front of the hall alongside the others.
