"Daddy, you're early!!!" A-Yuan squealed, stumbling down the daycare sidewalk in his raggy overalls and corduroy hat. His little pigtails bounced in time with the thudding of his rain boots. It was drizzling.

Wei WuXian scooped him right up into his arms and they spun around.

"Yep! Felt like a movie night tonight. What about you, munchkin?"

"Yes yes yes!"

The real reason he'd picked his son up early was because of Mr. Yao. A-Yuan was meant to spend the night at childcare while Wei WuXian spent the night faking pleasure beneath that sweaty oaf. But Mr. Yao didn't pick up his calls—actually, nobody answered the phones at any one of his establishments. Because Wei WuXian had already requested the afternoon off from his other gigs in reluctant preparation, he decided he and A-Yuan deserved a nice, quiet evening at home together.

Yeah. Cuddling his kid sounded really good right now.

"How was your day?" Wei WuXian wondered fondly, adjusting his son's hat as they began walking to the car.

"Good! Oh! Baba, I made you this!" Wei Yuan dug around in his pocket awkwardly, lacking the motor control of a practiced adult. He pulled out a long piece of yarn strung with uncooked macaroni noodles, painted crudely in a black-red-black-red pattern.

"For me?" The sun shining through their umbrella cast a red glow over Wei WuXian's face. He looked like the dame of a romance movie, painted in a bashful light as she received a beautiful diamond necklace from the male lead.

"Mhm!"

"Why, thank you."

Wei WuXian tied the bracelet around his wrist and smiled. Noodles were far nicer than diamonds.

Breaking News: PingYang Business Tycoon Mr. Yao Found Dead in his own Home, the TV screen read in bold, red letters.

Wei WuXian dropped the box of Kraft macaroni and cheese. It hit the floor rattling like a maraca. Funny, A-Yuan was hungry for macaroni. It must have come from the hours he spent on his arts and crafts at daycare.

Upon reading the headline, Wei WuXian burst out, "Fuck!"

How could he be dead? He'd seen him just last night as fine and perverted as ever!
