Caitlyn walked through the forest, adjusting her cloak ever now and then. She couldn't stay inside her parents' estate all day barred from the outside! She wanted to live for goodness sake!
So she told her parents she was going out, took her sketchbook, some pens and food in a picnic basket with her and was now drawing the scenery before her. She always adored the forest.
With it's natural elements of trees and sunlight that filtered through their branches, birds singing and flying from branch to branch.
For a moment she was immersed in her drawing until she heard a twig snap.
Looking around, she stayed silent. Waiting for something else to happen.
When nothing did, she went back to her sketchbook. Her hand going to draw a leaf when she heard the sound of leaves crunching.
Reaching into her basket, she pulled out her gun and whirled around. She was met with...a wolf-girl?!
"Quick to defend yourself aren't you human?" She asked, raising a scarred eyebrow in question.
"And you're a bit nosy aren't you wolf?" Caitlyn fired back.
Upon closer examination, the wolf-girl had pink hair with ears and a bushy tail that were the exact same color. "First, my name is Vi. Second, are you gonna put that gun down and out of my face or ehat?"
"What strange colored ears and hair you have Vi," Caitlyn pointed out as she out the gun back in her picnic basket.
Vi stared up as she wiggled them. "There's stranger colors out there."
"What sharp teeth as well." Caitlyn observed.
"You could say that," Vi shrugged her shoulders. "But mine aren't nearly sharp enough."
"You're rather short though." The woman tipped her head to the side, almost curious.
Vi's blue eyes widened and her brows furrowed furiously. "I am not short cupcake!" She growled. "I'm above the average height for wolf-people so fuck you for that!"
"Above the average hm?" Caitlyn looked her up and down. Her gaze landed right on her eyes; they were a strange sort of blue. Not dazzling like her or her parents' eyes but in their own way; they were a mix between a pale blue and gray. "I've heard stories of your kind being as tall as some men most days. So the fact I'm seeing a wolf-girl shorter than a human is honestly shocking."
Vi scoffed. "Humans exaggerate that. Probably to find wolf-people hot and scary or something like that."
Caitlyn silently took that information in. She was focused on her eyes. Mesmerized by them even.
"Like what you see Cupcake?" Vi teased, breaking her out of her trance.
Caitlyn rolled her eyes. "Stop calling me that," she mumbled.
"What? Don't like it?" Vi's tail swished.
"A bit strange following a human you don't know in the woods don't you think?" Caitlyn watched the wolf-girl circle her.
"What, I can't smell some of your cupcakes in that basket?" Vi pointed out, gesturing to it with a clawed hand. "What are you doing out here alone anyway?"
"Just enjoying the scenery I suppose," The blue haired woman replied. "Getting away from the world I live in."
Vi blinked. "Is that what that book is for?" She asked and went to pick it up, flipping through some pages. "My little sister has one of these. Says she got it from somewhere."
"You have a sister?" Caitlyn asked.
"Yep. I take care of her." Vi replied as she stared at the intricate drawings.
"I wish I had a sister. Seems like the only person I take care of is myself, but I like that sort of thing." Caitlyn sat down on the ground, patting a spot next to her for Vi to sit with her.
"Eh, you love some siblings. Hate others. I have a brother that bugs my sister so that's where the hate part comes from." Vi explained as she sat down with her.
This caused Caitlyn to frown somewhat. "Really?"
"Yeah. But one day I'll tie him up so he'll be humanity's first piece of evidence we exist and he'll shut up fast," the pink-haired wolf-girl said.
Caitlyn chuckled. "You're strange Violet. I like strange."
"You're strange too Cupcake." Vi said, her tail wagging.
"My name is Caityln," the blue haired girl told her.
"Cupcake sounds better. You're certainly sweeter than other humans like a cupcake considering you didn't automatically fire at me." Vi casually looked around her.
Something about that made Caityln's heart drop to her insides. "You've been shot at?"
"Yeah. That's how I got this hole on my ear," Vi pointed up at the hole which was in her right ear. "Got a couple of cool scars from it actually. But it was worth it, so it's fine. Same with the rest. As long as Powder's safe."
"You care about Powder a lot don't you?" Caitlyn asked. How could anyone shoot someone so compassionate?!
"Of course. She's my sister." The wolf-girl replied. "Weird for a wolf-person to care right?"
Caitlyn laid her hand on top of Vi's, her soft fingers interlocking with Vi's clawed ones. "I think that's sweet of you."
Vi smiled at her. "So, wanna tell me about this sketchbook?"
"Sure." Caitlyn picked it up and the two began to enjoy their time in the forest side by side as the sun began to set.
