Lex POV:

I sat Adrien down when we got to my room that night and I went over everything that happened earlier that day. His face was red with anger by the time I finished the story.

"I don't understand. How can he be so angry about something so insignificant. You didn't even do anything about it. Why?" He asked. "I don't want my brother going to jail, Adrien." I replied. "You'd rather him beat the shit out of you?" Adrien asked.

I only looked down at my hands.

It made me feel so stupid when he said that. He's right. I'm acting like I enjoy getting beaten by Dom.

Adrien shook his head and stood up.

"I can't help you if you aren't willing to help yourself, Lex." He said and walked out of my bedroom door.

I jumped off the bed and chased after him.

"I thought you were staying the night." I told him. "I should get home." Adrien told me before touching the door handle.

I grabbed his hand before he could leave.

"Why are you leaving? Why are you so angry with me?" I asked. "Lex, this is crazy. You'd rather live in a house with a monster and take a beating than doing something about it. I've tried as hard as I can to help and keep you safe, but you won't let me. You're making it so damn hard and I can't do it anymore. I'm done trying." He said before leaving.

I buried my face in my hands and just cried. Did he just dump me?

I heard footsteps behind me and turned.

Dom and dad were standing there.

"How much did you hear?" I asked quietly. "Enough. Adrien has a point, sweetheart. You act like it isn't a big deal. Baby, look at you. You think that isn't a big deal? I'm on your side, I am. But I see his side too. I'm not trying to make you angry or hurt you but I honestly can't blame him for leaving. Sometimes I think you're too good to people, baby." My dad told me and walked upstairs.

I looked at Dom.

"You happy now? You got what you wanted." I told him.

"I may be an asshole, but you're a moron." Dom said and left the house.

Adrien POV:

"I don't fucking believe this." I muttered to myself after slamming the front door closed.

"Hey, son. You okay?" My dad asked. "I'm good pops." I said blankly and walked to my room.

Almost as soon as I closed the door, there was a knock. On the other side was my dad.

"You're not good, boy." He said and sat on my bed.

He then looked at me, shrugged, and lightly slapped his knees.

"Talk to me." He said.

My father was a very trust worthy man. I couldn't ask for a better father.

"I broke up with Lex." I said quietly. "Why? The two of you were getting along so well. You were finally happy." Dad told me.

"Dad, Dom beat the shit out of her. He put her in the hospital and won't let anyone do anything about it. She'd rather take a beating than put that monster behind bars. Hell, Lionel begged her to do something and he's Dom's father." I told him.

"From what you told me, he isn't much of one."

I let out a humorless laugh.

"That's another thing. She forgave him and now they're best fucking friends all of a sudden. All this shit happened in one day. One fucking day." I was breathing heavily by the time I finished.

"I've tried so hard. For years I've stood by her when Dom would say something. I even hit him the first time he slapped Lexi. She doesn't want to help herself and if she won't then I can't. I can't do it anymore." I told dad.

"Are you sure this is what you want?" He asked.

"I'm just tired, dad. I'm so tired of Dom hurting her and I'm tired of her letting him. I can't do anything for her now. Not until she stops being so damn stubborn."
