Y/n had been dead for awhile, how long they had been dead for, they couldn't remember. They did know, however, it was before the Seven Archons became the Seven. Though, they never remembered what happened during that time, they had centuries of memories of their beloved family.

The three Y/n stayed with was Barbatos, Rex Lapis and Raiden Shogun, they never remembered the others and so they never visited. Even though they tried to visit all three, going to Inazuma was difficult even for Y/n and the other two archons, so Y/n guessed they never truly stayed with her.

Tonight, Y/n sat by the Geo Archon's statue, awaiting for something, anything at all. They had been bored all day and Rex Lapis, now known as Zhongli which they had just found out, had been busy all day so they hadn't really had fun like they usually did.

Y/n's back was leaning on the statue with their legs pulled up to their chest, their chin laying on their knees. Their eyes were just barely staying open as they watched the sun slowly go behind the towering mountains. Y/n faintly smiled at the view, the sunset still beautiful even after all these tiresome years, their eyes finally dropping and their vision turned a haunting black.

When they had awoke again, the moon had been high up and their mind turned dark quick. If it was this late, Rex Lapis would certainly be worried, or would he even notice that they were gone, being too busy with his new life to care about his old one? Either way, they had no intention of moving away, they would just be ignored again for that blond traveller and the Rite of Passing events even though Rex Lapis wasn't truly dead.

So the old child remained in the sitting position they were in and watched the moon, feeling the calmness wash over them. The bright, big moon was like their safe place, the thing they used to look at for comfort when they were alive, knowing that their family was also seeing the same moon as they were. However, even though that feeling had passed, they still felt the safety they used to feel when they stared at the rock in the sky.

Their head leaned on the base of the Geo Archon's statue, the ghost child huffing in annoyance and couldn't help but wander if their old friend would even notice their absence.

That is when they heard the footsteps and the noise of someone clearing their throat, "I have searched for you for a few hours, and here you sit, by my own statue."

Y/n kept quiet, their fading annoyance only rising once more.

However, the Geo Archon spoke once more, in hopes to get Y/n to face him, "I remember when you watched the moon every night, it is rare that I see you like this."

Y/n muttered as they rolled their eyes, "I do do it every night, you never notice anymore. Barbatos does, he spends time with me."

Their grip tightened on their knees, they didn't know why they were speaking with such an attitude. Especially to their family, the one who raised them, even though they could not age anymore.

Rex Lapis kneeled down to the height of Y/n, "I apologise I have not been spending time with you today, but, as you know, myself and the Traveller were getting ready for the rite of passing."

Y/n made a small 'hmph' sound as they turned their head away from Rex Lapis.

The Geo archon sighed in defeat and stayed quiet, knowing how the dead child's way of the silent treatment. However, little did Rex Lapis know, today - tonight - was different.

"Why fake your death, why live I life I am stuck in?" The slightly transparent child asked, their eyes finally meeting the God's.

Taken back from the question, Rex Lapis exhaled, trying to think of an answer, "Time moves on and one day, some will find that they have completed what they sought out to do, even if it may not seem like it or others do not like the decision."

Y/n's frown lifted, though they weren't amused, they were irritated with their old friend's wording, "I am stuck in a body that will no longer grow and I will be forever seen as a child, that is my curse, it is not a decision to stay like this."

Rex Lapis stayed quiet.

"Time moves on, but I do not, my body is cannot grow and I am forever a child." Y/n says, their voice slightly louder than before, "The few things I like was the Barbatos, Ai and you being my family, it was fun and none of us hated each other. Now, now Barbatos is known as a Bard called Venti, Ei has changed so much and you are supposedly dead, the only thing that hasn't changed is me."

"Are you mad that we've changed?" Rex Lapis asks.

"No I am jealous that you've changed, because I want to change!" Y/n shouts, tears in the corners of their eyes.

Rex Lapis cleared his throat, a sense of pity growing inside of him for the ghost child. He knew not how to comfort them, this feeling they were feeling was not like the others Rex Lapis knew how to comfort, "I know you do not want to here this, but time will forever move on. No matter how much we want to hold onto the past, all we can do is try and follow with the new ways. Perhaps a way to start is to start calling me by the name I have chosen to go by."

Before Y/n could speak once more, Rex Lapis - Zhongli - continues, "Y/n, there's is not much I can do I'm afraid. However, I will spend the remaining time you are here in Liyue Harbour with you. We can go and visit Cloud Retainer."

Y/n, considering the opportunity to see an old friend, sighed and finally responded, "Fine, Zhongli."
