!On break!
The last leaf falls to the brown haired traveller's feet as Aether and Paimon walk farther ahead. Y/n didn't really want to travel any further, not for the day at least. He knew how much Lumine meant to Aether, how much Lumine meant to both Y/n and Aether, but was it really worth all the hassle? All the wondering, 'side quests'? Near death experiences? You would think if someone would be want to be found, they would've been somewhat happy the first encounter.
Y/n didn't say anything to Aether, though, he'd rather not. How could he, after all Lumine wasn't his sibling, only a friend. Y/n no longer had any siblings since the heart-breaking disaster all those hundreds years ago that remain so clear in his mind, he couldn't say to stop looking for Aether's last known living relative.
"Hey, Y/n, are you coming?" Paimon asked, turning when she realised her second companion wasn't following, "What are you looking at?"
Y/n looked back up at the two, a smile on his face, "Just a leaf, nothing more, nothing less."
The two came walking back to Y/n, but he only looked up at the sky. A soft smile plastered on the brunette's sunlit face.
"It's a beautiful day, is it not?" The brunette asked, the sun on his face highlighting all his flawless features, "It would be a shame to waste it, wouldn't it?"
Paimon and Aether smiled, Y/n assumed they had seen the same. The day, finally beautiful to all their eyes, had finally been noticed as something to not take for granted, to not be wasted like all their previous days they spent continuously walking around, continuously putting others before them, saving cities instead of themselves and rarely ever taking well-deserved breaks.
"What do you think, Aether?" Y/n asked, his brown hair looking an attracting golden brown due to the sun.
Aether, admiring his close friend's features, nodded, "I think it would be a shame to waste it, too."
Paimon did her usual jumping in the air then asked, "What should we do then?"
Y/n looked at Paimon, then back at Aether, "Since we're close to Mondstadt again, why don't we go to Good Hunter? Enjoy some Sticky Honey Roast? Perhaps visit some of our old friends, then take in some of the scenery?"
Paimon, already itching to go and get food, looked at Aether, "Oh! Can we, Traveller?"
Aether, a genuine smile clear on his face, chuckled, "Only Paimon would be excited about the food."
"Hey! Paimon thinks it is well deserved after all we've done!" Paimon yelled, her voice a even louder squeak, "Don't shame Paimon!"
The three spent the day wondering around Mondstadt or the first time in a while, they bumped into the famous Calvary Captain Kaeya, saw the Acting Grand Master Jean and even saw Master Diluc leaving the Tavern when it was closing time. The day was spent catching up with old friends and overall having some fun for once since a long time.
It was safe to say, the day was not wasted as Y/n feared it would seem to be. As the sun set and Aether and Y/n sat on Starsnatch with Paimon distracted far behind, Y/n laid on his back with his eyes closed while Aether sat with his arms propping him up.
"I can feel you staring, Blondie." Y/n smirked, an eye peering open.
Aether looked away back over the ocean, a faint red covering his cheeks.
Y/n softly chuckled as he sat up, a laugh that made the blond Traveller's stomach do flips and heart skip beats.
"Relax, Aether." Y/n sighed, "You want to talk, don't you?"
"How do you know?" Aether asked, turning his head once more at his less annoying companion.
The brunette shrugged, "Gut instinct, you also always stare at me when you want to talk."
At her let a breath of laughter, "I suppose I do."
Y/n looked at Aether, urging him to talk.
Aether looked at his boots, "Thank you, for accompanying me on this journey, you never had to."
"Aether..." Y/n sighed, "If you thought I was gonna let you go on this journey to find Lumine by yourself, you really did not know me."
The blond Traveller looked at Y/n once more, his eyes wondering to his lips ever so often, "I really like you..."
Y/n let out a breath and seemingly choked on his own saliva.
Aether's hands flew up to his friend, as if he could help the temporal choking Y/n had to endure.
"You like me?" Y/n asked, red covering his face, "Like me, me? Me in front of you?"
"I... It's fine if you don't like me back!" Aether quickly said, "I'll understand and it won't affect our friendship. If you want me to back off, just say so and if you don't want to join me anymore that's..."
Y/n gathered all his courage to cut off Aether with a kiss and when the two pulled away, Y/n said, "I think that says it all, Blondie."
