Everything was perfectly okay.

Everything was fine.

At first.

Two amazing dads and one great son.

They had an amazing family dynamic and probably one of the happiest families you'd meet.

Until someone new joined.

At first it was just Taka and Mondo.

Then they decided they wanted to marry.

Then they decided they wanted kids.

So it was now Taka, Mondo and Kaito.

And it stayed like that for a while.

But then it was suddenly Taka, Mondo, Kaito and now Tenko.

Kaito of course was a young kid so didn't understand that if there is an infant, they require a lot of attention.

And Kaito didn't like that Tenko received all of that.

At first Taka and Mondo gave all their attention to him, now he had to share it.

Taka and Mondo ended up being overly exhausted from taking care of another kid that often they'd end up not even bothering to walk up stairs to bed and just crash on the sofa together. Very early in the evening.

So if Kaito wanted to do anything Taka and Mondo usually would have to say no.

Kaito thought they were just being mean but they had no energy to do so and felt really bad.

But Kaito wouldn't know that. He's like 6.

Eventually they managed to work out a way again to manage time and take turns in doing stuff once they had learnt things about Tenko because learning about your child can be confusing.

So that also meant the other found a bit more energy to do what Kaito wishes with them.

He definitely was still jealous but it decreased a tiny bit now they spent more time together again.

"Dads," Kaito said suddenly one day.

Taka, who had just been looking after Tenko, looked up from where he was on the sofa and Mondo, who was playing games or something with Kaito, looked at him too.

"Why do you like Tenko more than me?" He said in that child-like thing where they pout and then cross their arms.

"What?! We don'! What made you think that?" Mondo said, not sounding upset but more worried.

"Yeah, we like you the same amount," Taka said, getting from off the sofa to be on the floor so he could talk to Kaito better.

"Then why do you spend more time with her?" Kaito asked in a childish suspicious tone.

"Because she's very young, she has to have more attention. You know how now you're all grown up able to get dressed by yourself and stuff like that? She can't do anything like that, so we have to help her more so she can be okay," Taka explained.

He knew exactly how he felt. When he was younger he ended up suddenly getting an older brother and felt as if his Dad spent more time with him and started to care about him less. It was as simple as wanting to get to know his stepson.

Mondo however did not understand how he felt, he was the youngest child and never got new siblings at random points. So he had no clue. But he took a guess.

"That's why now only one of us will play with ya at the moment, so the other can take care of Tenko but so ya don' feel alone," Mondo said smiling.

"Yeah, we kind of started to notice you seemed different, you know you could have said this earlier right?" Taka asked.

"I thought you'd be mean," Kaito said.

"We'd never be mean if it comes to how ya feel, we can help ya with it always alright?" Mondo said cheerfully.

"Really?" Kaito asked happily.

"Of course, we're you're Dads after all are we not? We're meant to care for both of you, you can help if you want to?" Taka suggested.

Kaito shook his head a lot.

"Why not?" Mondo asked, rolling his eyes slightly, but not in a pissed way, in a way that this is my kid and he's about to say something kid-like.

"Babies look like aliens! And aliens are scary!" Kaito said upset.

"But I thought you wanted to be astronaut? You can't become one if you don't like aliens," Taka said playfully.

"Oh... okay I'll talk to the alien baby," Kaito said, realising that he had to face the scary alien baby.

"Is that why you've been avoiding her for so long, cuz she looks like an alien?" Mondo asked, trying to force himself not to laugh.

He was a good Dad, but he couldn't control himself when kids said kid things so had to force himself from laughing.

"Yes!" Kaito said definitively.

"Well, now you're going to have to learn not to be scared then aren't you, you know, if you help, it may mean we're able to play with you more, we won't be as tired," Taka said, not trying to like guilt trip him as it sounds like that, more put it into kid terms that having help equals more fun sometimes.

"Okay!" Kaito said cheerfully.

So while he couldn't do much as he was a literal 6 year old, he still tried his best to help with his baby sister the best he could. He didn't realise either the tiny things he did Taka and Mondo really appreciated it, the small things went a long way.

Eventually, Kaito completely forgot about the jealousy he had and it was almost like it didn't happen.

Everything was perfect again.
