You had always idolized him. But you could only watch from afar, reading clippings from newspapers, watching talk of his work on the television, reading about his achievements and advancements in the field of robotics. He was a genius. So naturally when you heard he and his partner had rebranded the restaurant previously known as Fredbear's Family Diner it became your greatest fixation.
The majority of Freddy fans consisted of young children usually toddlers to fifth graders, rarely middle schoolers. Then there was you. The adult with a job, but who still experienced the childlike glee they did when Freddy Fazbear's Pizzeria was mentioned.
You liked to say you were a big fan of Mr. Afton's work, though your admiration sometimes bordered obsession, you kept ever single newspaper clipping, taped every bit of news about him on the tv, and sometimes even wrote about him yourself, though you kept that bit very private.
Who couldn't love the guy? A robotic genius who used his technology to make kids happy. You loved children too, which probably explained your choice in work. Right now, you were a nanny, though you preferred to use the term babysitter since 'nanny' was usually associated with an older woman, which you weren't. Being a babysitter wasn't only fun, but especially now it gave you an excuse to go to the pizzeria and see the animatronics for yourself.
You were an aspiring roboticist, studying in the field right now, at a prestigious college. Top of your class and straight A student. Even though you had gotten a scholarship it didn't mean you were rich, there was other things you needed to pay for. The job was helpful, but unfortunately not enough so that you were able to afford all the components you needed to achieve some of your bigger projects, robot parts were expensive.
Being able to go to Freddy Fazbear's would give you some inspiration. You were kind of stuck right now, and though you wouldn't even dream of being able to make robots at the level of Mr. Afton, let alone affording the materials. It never hurt to be able to see some other work, done with a higher skill set and substantial budget, that you lacked.
So, on Saturday morning you packed up the station wagon a particularly wealthy family had let you borrow, to ensure their children's safety and comfort while being drove around and picked up all the children you were to take care of today.
You had a particularly large number of kiddos today. Eight. More than usual, but you had ensured that you each of their parents' permission to take them to the large pizzeria. Of course, you were still concerned about being able to look after all of them in such an open place with so many other kids.
You couldn't help but wonder...Would Mr. Afton himself be there? Surely, a man as important as him would have other things to do, but you couldn't help but hope. Then again you wouldn't know what to say to him. You imagined yourself staring at him like some creepy stalker, gosh that'd be embarrassing. It didn't matter since he wouldn't be there, you told yourself.
Once you had parked in the parking lot, being especially careful not to damage the car, you stood in awe at the marvelous building in front of you. The outside wasn't much, but enough to lure you in with its vibrant picture of Freddy Fazbear right above the door. You were glad to see you weren't the only one excited, the kids were practically trembling with anticipation.
"Are you guys excited to see Freddy?" You asked playfully making them more excited. "Yes!" Most of the kids screamed the quiet ones just nodded their heads with a smile. You smiled. "Alright then! Everyone grab a buddy and make sure you stay with them the whole time."
The buddy system was one that had worked relatively well for you so far. The kids looked out for each other, and it was a better way to keep track of all of them. Especially today.
You didn't know what to expect on the in inside of the building, but it was crazier than you could've ever imagined. The newest arcade games were lined up next to each other and were all buzzing with sound, kids were waiting in long lines for a chance to be the next player. The floor was checkered with alternating tiles colored black and white. Balloons and banners lined the walls along with drawings of Freddy, Chica, Bonnie and Foxy clearly illustrated by young children.
And there, taking center stage were the animatronics themselves, their movements were even smoother than you imagined possible. Before you let yourself completely marvel at the robots though, you counted the kids.
Molly was with Mallory, you thought of them as 'the two Ms' to keep track of them. They were identical twins, but you could still tell them apart. Robert and Joseph were by the arcade machines, of course. The other Robert, because heck Robert was a popular name, was with Jen. You were lucky Robert number two preferred the name Robbie, it made things easier. And lastly Bo and Erin were talking to a little girl their age. All eight of them. Perfect.
You took out your note pad and began scribbling notes about Freddy, Chica and Bonnie. Foxy had his own stage in Pirate's Cove, and you'd heard rumors he was out of order right now. You observed everything from what plush cloth their "fur" was made of to how the eyes moved and even the numbers of fingers or toes each of them had. None of it was boring to you, this was your passion.
After four pages worth of notes, you looked up at the clock on the wall. Not knowing how long it'd been. Goodness! Lunch time already, the kids must be starving. The parents would be pissed if they went home hungry, so you called them all to a booth and ordered a large cheese pizza, a medium pepperoni one, and a small gluten free personal pizza for Bo, who couldn't eat gluten without getting sick. You just got some fries for yourself; you weren't all that hungry, just anxious to return to the animatronics.
You'd noticed how like life they'd seemed. Almost as though Freddy Fazbear himself had a soul or a deep consciousness, Mr. Afton and Mr. Emily sure captured exactly what kids wanted. They were like real imaginary friends, which made no sense but was wonderful and pleased your somewhat childlike mind.
At three pm you had to get going, the parents were expecting their kids back soon, and it wasn't an option for you to be late.
Driving home you found yourself a little bit disappointed, there were some many things you could done at Freddy's that you missed out on and so many more things to see. And, alright, in all honestly you were disappointed Mr. Afton wasn't there, but you respected the fact he was a busy man. Either way, you would be visiting Freddy's again very soon, or whenever possible.
