"I told you to be home by 6. Did you forget about our dinner plan?" said my mom from the kitchen by hearing me close the front door
"It's only 6:10," I said while taking off my jacket and rubbing my hands as it is so cold outside and it's a December night.
The evening sky was very beautiful with orange shade and cold breezes. Mrs.Hastings wished me while I'm way home.
"It's 10 minutes past 6, that makes you late," said my dad who is sitting on the couch in the hall not taking his eyes off the T.V
"You're still watching HIMYM?" I said
My father nodded with his eyes still on the T.V.
I said to myself; how can you forget about something that your mom keep reminding you every day for the whole last month. But I tried to be home by 6. But me and the boys went to Ben's house and evening stroll after our lunch at the ROR. (raft of relief) We came out of the café by 3 'o' clock. We finished eating half an hour earlier but we sat there just to talk. After that, we went to Ben's house to play GTA 5. He's the only one among us who have a play station. It is his uncle's gift to him from California. I have a laptop but the graphics sucks and the other point is I don't have any interest in games. We stayed at his home for like two hours and after that, we went to the park and sat under the tree which we call 'the uncool place.'
Both Lucas and Liam went home together since their homes were very close to each other. I called Ben to come along so I could take him to his house and then go to mine. But he wanted to stay a little longer. That was how my day went.
"Where is Max?" I asked my mom as I didn't see my brother at home
"He went out with Sophie" shouted my mom from the kitchen
I went into the kitchen to see what she was cooking.
"He's not home yet?" I said taking some onions from the chopping board.
"No! Maybe he's having a very good time with his fiancé. Maybe your sister-in-law will make him forget way to home! " she said and laughed
"He's your son. How can you let some woman control him? Ew, girls are really bad."
"I am a girl too Will." She said by showing me a knife in her hands
"You are mom, not a girl. There's a lot of difference between you and other girls."
"Hmm. Agreed!" she said and went to add chopped onions to some mix "why don't you find a girlfriend. Maybe you can also go out with her like your brother."
"Don't worry, that not going to happen. I don't like that type of thing."
"I know. But just saying that even if you did, your father and I have no complaint about it. Right dear? " said my mom and looked at my dad through the serving hatch and he just said "huh" and went back to watching his show.
"Dad's turning into kind of Ben. Both are addicted to screens" I said
"hmm. And yeah, did you have a good time with the boys?" she said
"yep! We went to Ben's house after lunch and to park after that."
"Oh good!" she said,
"How much longer?" I said
"15 more," she said by focusing on the cooking
"Okay then! I'll be in my room" I said and she nodded
I went into my room, shut the door behind me, and turned on the light. I then sat on my bed and sighed. I took the bottle of pills labeled 'Montelukast' and swallowed two pills. That will prevent me from having Dyspnea due to asthma attacks. As I controlled my breathing to normal, I looked around my room.
I'll have a dark tone because I like dim lighting, and I'll have a Michael Jackson poster on the right wall, which my brother gave me for my last birthday. As I saw the dust on my book shelves on the wall opposite my bed, I remembered that I should clean my room.
I have a lot of books and novels as I started reading when I was 13 but mostly fiction. Next to my bed, I have my laptop, medicines, and other stuff. There is a window on the left wall. Next to the bookshelves is my guitar. My room is pretty much where I spend my time. The more my dad tries to get me out of here and encourages me to go out, the more I wish I could stay here so I won't have to face people.
I opened my laptop to see if I had any new emails or messages. As usual, I didn't. I put the laptop aside and turned on the stereo. From where I stopped this morning, the song "Billie Jean" played. Perhaps that's why I remembered this line when I saw her.
!!! THE NEW GIRL. !!!
For the hundredth time I remembered her. I opened my laptop to see her Instagram profile and realized that I had no idea what her name was. "Shit!" I screamed to myself. I threw my laptop aside and just laid in bed. The stereo played 'B-A-B-Y' by Carla Thomas. I'm into the 90's myself.
'You never had a crush on any girl before. Why are you such a fan of this one? Maybe that comes with turning 17. Maybe you gain new desires and some sense of loving.' I said to myself
"NON-SENSE!" said my mind. A pretty girl whom you didn't know before today walked into your life and you were straight into the concept of love. Remember, you're the uncool guy, and you have to remain in your own world." I agree "but maybe..."
Keeping the pillow on my head, I turned around and have been sleeping on my stomach thinking, "I HAVE TO KNOW HER." I am constantly talking to myself like this while the war within me and all the "Maybe(s)" go back and forth.
"Dinner's ready!" shouted my mom from the dining table.
As soon as I walked out of my room, Max came home.
"Ha! Max. You're just in time. Come let's have dinner. " said mom
"Had a good time with your girlfriend?" I said to my brother
"She's not my girlfriend anymore you idiot. She's My fiancé." Said Max by tapping on my back
Making a face at him, I sat down at my favorite dining table spot.
"Come on Dear! That guy never going to tell the real story about how he met his mother. Come and have dinner." Said mom by pointing to T.V
"True" said Max and laughed who sat opposite to me.
During the HIMYM's outro, my dad switched to the music channel and came to the table.
My mom served us and gave me a coke, while they had wine in their glasses.
"Happy Birthday Little Boy," said my mom pulling my cheek and went back into kitchen.
"Here you go, idiot!" my brother said as he tossed me what I asked him for as my present. I hurried to hide it before Mom and Dad noticed.
"Thanks! Max" I said with a lot of happiness in my voice
"I know what it is, boy! Just chill!" said my dad while winking at me. But my mom doesn't.
With a raised glass of wine in her hand, mom said, "Here's to my boy turning 17! To William!".
"Cheers!" my brother and father said as they raised theirs.
'Maybe you should talk to her tomorrow at school' my mind whispered. "Shut Up!" I said slowly to myself and concentrated on the conversation between my mom and dad.
Max noticed that I was not paying attention and raised his eyes. I nodded sideways and continued to eat.
'Maybe I should!' I whispered back to my brain....
