Life as a the boss lady of Boss Lady never got any boring but at this moment, I wished for nothing more than to be a free bird.

But unfortunately I could no more be free than I could grow wings. Maybe, I should invest into some mechanical wings. At least one dream would be fulfilled.

I exhaled grumpily.

Currently, I was on my private jet en route to Brazil with Jules, my second-in-command who was typing away at her IPAD, while humming a horribly off-beat pop tune.

And I had to cancel my appointment... I mean dinner with the good doctor, Ethan Trent.

Normally, I prided myself on restraint but my black mood oozed out of me and Jules made it a point to stay away from me because she thought it was infectious, my melancholia.

I had realized that I didn't have Ethan's phone number to reschedule. We had not gotten that far in our friendship...or enmity. After an hour of stalking Ethan Trent through the web, I found his phone number listed on Bellvue's official website.

The man didn't even have Facebook. Seriously, which rock was he living under?

The phone rang for a solid five minutes before a monotonous, bored female voice answered,

"Bellvue Hospital. How can I help you?"

For a minute I didn't really know what to say. I wasn't his friend or family. How would he react if I called him at work?

"Uhm....can I speak to Dr. Trent?", I asked, suddenly nervous.

" He is doing rounds right now. He left his phone at the reception.", she said in the same robotic voice.

"Well...could take a message? Wait...! Could you just ask him to call me back? It's really important."

"What's your name?", she asked.

" Just tell him Sana Bianchi called."

There was a tiny gasp across the line.

"Sana Bianchi....as in like the Boss Lady's CEO?", she asked excitedly.

" Yeah?"

What the hell was going on?

"Hold on a second. I will get Dr. Ethan for you. By the way, I am a huge fan.", she said and put the call on hold.

Well, I was famous! These things happened.

After a minute, a deep, gruff voice came over the line.

"Pufferfish?"

I exhaled at the sound. I didn't even realize that I had been holding my breath.

"Hey, Doc.", I acknowledged.

"Did you get in trouble?", he asked when I didn't speak for several seconds.

" No...we need to reschedule dinner tonight. Something came up.", I said, a little disappointed for not being able to banter more with him. I couldn't have Jules suspicious.

"Oh.. Ok.. Where are you?", he asked on a little sigh.

"In my heavenly chariot aka my private jet. I am going out of the country."

"Of course you have a jet. Could you be any more of a cliche? Don't answer that.it was a purely rhetorical question.", I could hear him rolling his eyes through the phone.

"Well, what can I say? I am a goddess and goddesses need chariots to travel. Actually my plane is way more luxurious and comfortable than a wooden chariot. Who am I kidding? I love this plane."

He huffed out a tired laugh.

"Vogue Brazil wants to interview me for the opening of our new chain of stores in Brazil. Now normally, I would do an online interview via mail but-"

He cut me off, "It's your home country and you want to do it by yourself. I get it."

I was pleasantly shocked that he had researched me.

"Ooh la la, Dr. Trent, did you just admit to stalking me online?", I said delighted by the fact than being disturbed.

" Hardly. You won't believe me but your name came up in my Google News algorithm. I opened one article and now I am being flooded with articles that claim to know everything about you.", he responded dryly.

"Well take it with a grain of salt. Social media is fake news 90 percent of the time. I know because I have been in the industry nearly ten years.", I warned. No doubt there were malicious articles about me. I didn't want him to think badly of me because of them.

" My opinion of you can't get poorer than it already is. ", he said jokingly and I laughed.

It really felt good to hear his voice like the sun on my back after a long rainy day.

"Tomorrow, same time?", I confirmed.

" I am afraid, I am picking up all the night shifts this week. I won't have time.", he said apologetic.

"Well..that's disappointing. I was really hoping to fight with you a bit more."

What was wrong with me? I had never missed anyone before. This was highly distressing.

"I'll see you next week, I promise. Till then, good luck with your interview.", he breathed out.

" Yeah, thanks."

Neither of us were willing to hang up before someone started calling for him.
He said a hurried goodbye leaving me staring at the cell.

I had not felt this disappointed in a long time.
