**Flashback; Aron continues to tell Danny about Ava.**

Ava's POV- Late 2011; 12yrs old.

"GET AWAY FROM ME!!" I screamed as I ran up the stairs to my room. Tears streamed down my face as I slammed the door and locked it.

"OPEN THIS DOOR RIGHT NOW AVA!!"

My dad banged on my door, screaming right back at me. I pulled my knees up to my chest. I didn't want to see my dad or even speak to him. I hated him for taking the phone that mom had given me a few years ago.

BANG!! BANG!! BANG!!

"Go away!!" I yelled through the tears. "I fucking hate you!!"

There was a brief moment of silence, then the banging began again. Only this time it came louder and quicker.

"YOU CAN'T CONTROL WHO I TALK TO!" I jumped off my bed and grabbed the backpack that I had packed the night before. "YOU CAN'T KEEP ME FROM ARON!!"

"YOU ARE 12 YEARS OLD AVA!!"

And that was the last thing I heard my dad say before I crawled out my window and ran for Aron's house.

**Aron's POV.**

"Yo Truth!"

"Yeah?" Truth poked his head out of his room down the hall. "What's up man?"

"Are you expecting anyone?" I asked, pointing down the hall as another knock came on the front door.

"Nah man. I got my girl in here."

I nodded my head and walked downstairs to see who was at the door.

BANG BANG!!

"Alright!" I yelled. "Calm your fucking tits man!"

"Aron I don't think that's appropriate."

I froze, my hand outstretched, about to open the door. "Avie is that you?"

"Aron open the damn door!" She yelled.

Yeah it was her. I opened up the door and sure enough Ava was standing on my front porch with a duffle bag in her hand.

I sighed heavily and pulled her inside.

"Avie what did you do?"

She looked up at me, smiling like as if she had just did the most amazing thing in the world.

"I ran away from my dad's." she dropped her bag and walked into the living room.

I followed behind her, kind of feeling embarrassed about the mess. "I would've cleaned up if I had known that you were coming over..." I looked up at her, confused. "Wait why didn't you call?"

She shuffled her feet nervously as she looked at me. "He uh...found out about the phone."

I took a deep breath before continuing. "Well we made it this far, what happened?"

I sat down on the couch and patted the seat next to me. She stood still for a moment before she broke down and flew herself onto my lap.

"Oof."

"Sorry." She mumbled softly.

"It's okay." I said pulling her closer to me as she cried. "Shh it's okay Avie."

I felt her body shake uncontrollably the harder she cried. For the next few minutes she tried to tell me what had happened at Johnny's.

Finally she calmed down and told me that she had tried to text me when Johnny had walked in on her.

"He got really mad, and then threw the phone at the wall. I yelled at him then ran upstairs, he followed me to my room. I locked the door," she took a deep shaky breath. "We kept yelling at each other through the door. Then I grabbed my bag and took the bus here."

"Avie. I'm sorry that you got thrown into this mess."

She nodded her head, "Its some fucked up shit."

Behind us I head Yuma laugh. We both turned to look at him as he walked over and sat down next to us. He handed Ava a plate of Oreo's. Ava smiled at him and stuffed a cookie in her mouth.

"You definitely have a foul vocabulary just like your dad." He laughed sneaking a cookie off the plate.

Ava just shrugged her shoulders and took another cookie.

After a while we ended up watching Tv, Truth and his girl from last night came downstairs and joined us.

"Hey Truth," Ava scooted forward in my lap, looking over at him.

"What's up Avie?"

"Why do you have a different girl every night? Do you get bitches just like Jay and the guys?"

It was quiet for a few moments after Ava had spoke, then we all burst out laughing.

"Yo! This kid is a trip man!" Truth leaned back in his chair covering his face. The girl that he had brought home last night stormed out of the room pissed.

"Ah don't mind her," he said getting up to go to the kitchen. "She's just the definition of a bitch."

"Ava?"

We all stopped laughing and looked up at the door to see Asia watching us.

"Well that's my cue to go." Yuma said running out of the room. "Hey Asia." he nodded to her before he vanished up the stairs.

"Asia. I didn't go get her." I said moving Ava off of my lap. "And I swear I had no idea that she would come here. "

"I know Aron. I kind of put the pieces together when George told me what they had been arguing about." She looked past me at Ava sitting on the couch, curled up in a little ball.

"Aron, you're a good man. You've never given me any reason not to trust you with my daughter, but the next time she runs away to here please call me."

I nodded my head, "Yeah I will, just can you write down your number?"

"Yes." She took out a piece of paper and scribbled her number on it before picking up Ava. She paused beside me before leaving, "Also feel free to call during the week if you want to talk to either her or me."

I nodded my head and hugged both of them goodbye before they left.
