After getting Eren Jaëger, we headed to the former Scouts Regiment, the castle in the middle of nowhere. Only Levi and Hange's squads were part of this mission.

The castle was in a terrible state. There was a lot of dust and cobwebs everywhere. The grass around the building was contaminated by weeds. I sighed, knowing we would have to put the place in order.

"This place is filthy. Start cleaning." Levi ordered.

Greg and I were cleaning the dorms. We joked around like idiots to make the task less annoying. We needed that. We both knew that harder times were to come. Once we were done messing around, we got a bit more serious.

"A 15 year-old kid can turn into a titan." he said. "What is he, truly? Why now and not before? This whole thing is insane."

"I couldn't agree more. This is all confusing. The more we learn about titans, the less sense it makes."

"We will have to use our brains again." Greg bitterly laughed.

He was right. We could not just follow orders anymore. We had to help our superiors think through these new discoveries.

Before leaving for the castle, Erwin told us about the basement in Eren's house, back in Shiganshina. It apparently held the truth about titans and our world. And we were supposed to use Eren's abilities to reconquer Wall Maria, these were the terms to gain his custody. Therefore, we had to distance ourselves from cities in order to train him and avoid any accident.

"Oi! Are you done cleaning the rooms?"

Levi appeared, wearing a mask on his face.

"Almost." I replied.

"Great. I will check on Eren. Once you are done, you can start unpacking. Hange will arrive tonight and we will plan the brat's experiment."

"Yes sir!" Greg and I saluted.

Later on, after eating dinner and escaping Hange's entire life research tale to Eren, I wandered around the castle, unable to sleep. I decided to go watch the stars, which relaxed me when I was agitated. I slowly walked my way up to the roof, opened the door and immediately stopped. There was already someone there.

"Sorry for disturbing." I said to the person.

There was only the light of the moon so I could not see who it was. I turned to head back in when a familiar voice spoke to me.

"Wait, Y/N. You can stay."

It was Levi. I decided to listen to him and sat next to him. I could finally see his face. It was peaceful, beautiful. His fair skin and grey eyes were almost mystical under the moonlight. We stayed quiet for a while. I decided to break the silence.

"So, Levi. You also come here to look at the stars?"

He turned his head to look a me. A tiny smirk appeared on his lips, which was rare.

"Yes I do. I enjoy the silence of the night. And I am pretty sure you understand how it feels to be under the night sky, to feel the wind on your face, to breath the cool air. The freedom of being outside."

I smiled back at him. He was right. I knew exactly how it felt, to be there instead of underground. The wind was brushing his hair away from his face, revealing more of his beauty. We kept our eyes locked, as if we were having a silent conversation. Without moving his gaze, he opened his mouth to say.

"Y/N, there is something I have to tell you."

Levi's POV

I was looking into her beautiful E/C eyes. Her H/L H/C/ hair was flowing in the wind. It was rare to see her without a ponytail. Her skin was perfect, her smiling lips were plumped and seemed soft. Her entire presence made me feel at ease, as if the world was not crumbling around us. The last events made me realise that we could die at any moment. Our job was already dangerous and what was about to come upon us was scarier.
