I just got a message from Tata Aimee. May pasok siya ngayon ah, what is she doing here?
" Uhmm.. Dr. Williams, can I go for now? My Aunt is in the cafeteria. " I asked my colleague
" Sure, Dr. Marcos. I just have to read it again. " I nodded and make my way to where my Tata is
I saw her sitting at the far end of the cafeteria and carrying frappe from starbucks.
" Hey, Maria Amanda Odesa. What brings you here? " I said and sat next to her
" It's Aimee, Teresa. " Tata back fires me
" Yuck!! Pareho talaga kayo nila Kuya noh! So, bakit ka nandito Tata? May masakit ba sayo? May kailangan ka ba? " I asked
" Wala naman. Pero, may surprise ako sayo. " she handed me a small box about the size of a wallet
" Ano 'to tita? "
" You need to pack your things na. My company give me a two month leave. So I decided to buy a plane ticket so we could go home to the Philippines. " I was shocked. As in literal na nganga ang Ate niyo
" OMG! Seryoso ka dito Tita?? " I asked her
" Why should I not be serious? " I just got up from my seat and hugged Tata
" Thank You Tata! Thank You so much! I love you so much! " sigaw ko. I don't care if maraming makarinig basta masaya ako
" You're welcome my niece. " she hugged me back
" Teka, does Mommy knows? "
" Nope, we're going to surprise her. Ako bahala. " I just nodded
I told Tata Aimee to go home already para makapag ayos na siya ng gamit. As for me, I went to our chief first to say farewell and to inform him that I would be in the Philippines for two months. He agreed right away because I had been planning it for a long time. I also deserve it because I work really hard and I just obtain my new doctor's award. Speaking of awards, I need to organize my trophies and certificates to bring home to Mommy when I go back to Philippines.
" Hey Imo! " I heard someone called me
" Dr. Wolf, Good Afternoon. " I said. It's Axiel
" Sophia and Dylan told me that you're leaving. " He said
" Not totally leaving. Just going home for two months. Tata Aimee, surprise me with plane tickets. " I said as I enter the Attending Lounge
" Why didn't you tell me? I want to come with you! " He exclaimed
" I'm sorry for not telling you right away but we're leaving tomorrow, Ax. "
" I will follow you then. I will not miss this chance to meet your family. " he looked straight in my eyes and held my hand
" Okay then. Just tell me when you're planning to book your flight " I said and grabbed my bag
" Let me help you, just sit down. " He said and I just let him
" Hi Imogen. Are you leaving now? " Dr. Sophia Torres asked while eating her lunch
" Yeah. My Aunt just surprised me that we were going home to Philippines. Our flight will be tomorrow at dawn.
While hanging around in the Attending Lounge, I spoke with Sophia and Axiel. When I return to the Philippines, I'm sure I'll miss these two. Sophia is my best friend here in California. Actually, both of her mothers reside in Seattle. They are also doctors in America's most recognized hospital. I believe in the Philippines too. The Seattle Grace Hospital. I don't even know why she stayed away from them and continued to practice medicine here in San Diego. If I was the one who could make a decision? I'd like to work there. It was a challenge to work with Dr. Grey especially Dr. Yang. I know she's back in Seattle and intends to stay, but I'm not sure why.
"I'm glad you can go home to your family, Imogen. Just come back here right away, okay? " Sophia said
" Of course. When do you plan to go home with Dr. Torres and Dr. Robbins? " I started asking her because she hadn't seen her parents in a few years.
" I'm not sure, I don't feel like going back home to them right now. " She give a short response.
" Sophia, you've been saying for three years that you don't feel to go home to them. " I widened my eyes at her
I want to go home with my Mother, but she's the polar opposite of me. She doesn't want to go home to her parents for some irrational reason.
" Maybe after you came back here, I'm gonna visit them. With you, Dylan and Axiel of course. " I just rolled my eyes on her.
" Whatevs. " I said
" Hey, Do you want us to drive you and your aunt to the airport? " Axiel asked
" Sophia and you have an early shift tomorrow. Don't bother. "
" No, we're going to dropped you at the airport before we head here. " Sophia said so I didn't protest anymore
The next day, Tata Aimee and I got up early to go to the airport. Dylan and Axiel prepared breakfast for us. They all came here at the house after our shift at the hospital last night and slept here. I even teased Sophia that she was too excited to let me leave California. We said our goodbyes as they drove us to the airport, and because Axiel's emotions were so shallow, he cried before we eventually stepped inside, as if he wouldn't follow us to the Philippines. He'll join us in a week because there's an International Conference on Clinical & Medical Case Reports this week and he's required to be there.
Tata Aimee also informed me that only Mama Meldy knew we were heading home since she had asked Tata to file a leave so that the entire family could celebrate Mommy's election as senator. Para all of us are present for Mom and Kuya Matthew's inauguration day. So she ordered Kuya Alfy and Kuya Lulu to pick us up at the airport since they're the one who is near in Manila. Mama Meldy also wants to surprise my Mom kaya no one knew that we're coming, except for my two cousins.
" My favorite sister! " Kuya Alfy shouts when he saw me
" Sus, ako lang naman pinsan mong babae Kuya Alfy eh. " I hugged him when I got near them
" Miss na miss ka namin, Vida! Lalo na ni Mommy. Halos mabaliw araw araw yun sa kakakwento tungkol sayo. " Kuya Luis said after he kissed my forehead
" Naku sinabi mo pa! Minsan nga paulit ulit nalang yung kinukwento niya. " Kuya Alfy added
" Oo sige kalimutan niyo ako. " Tata Aimee joked
" Ayy HAHAHA sorry Tita Aims! " they both hugged Tata
" Kapag dating talaga kay Vida, ichampuwera na kaming lahat sa inyo. Sabay lang naman kami umalis ni Vida ng Pinas." biro ni Tata
" Love ka pa rin naman namin Tita. It's just Vida is the only girl sa aming magpipinsan. " Kuya Luis said
" Sus. Tara na nga dahil baka mainip na si Mommy sa pagaantay at malayo pa ang biyahe natin. " Tata Aimee said and she rolled her back towards Kuya Alfy's car.
