CHAPTER 3

            KIM'S POV
 I opened my front door thinking of the last season of the teen wolf series I was watching,I closed the door with my foot and hear the lock click in place. I remove my shoes and pass through the kitchen and picked a shiny apple from the basket on the island as I bounced up the stairs to my room. I dropped my bag down near the couch and plopped on it biting on my apple. I dived my free hand between the couch folds trying to locate the remote.

 When I got it,I threw my legs on top of the couch and turned on the TV,I  immediately  found the episode and played it.It's amazing how werewolves have destined mates specially choosen to them by their moon-goddess, someone who will love you to infinity with all your flaws, and will never cheat on you. Sounds mushy but if I'm not getting that I'm not dating. I can't imagine myself dating someone, falling head over heels for them to one day have my heart ripped from my body and being stomped on. I'd rather get old in a comfortable house with a parrot and a dog.
 
I saw a wolf shift, tearing his clothes to shreds then sprinted for the forest. That seems to be so much fun, blending with nature, I wish those could really exist and have one of them as a friend since I couldn't be mated to any of them, what of being human and everything. His mate joined him and they start to fool around, nipping on each other's ears and chasing each other playfully. Sigh.
 
I heard the front door open and
mom asking if I'm home,the TV's volume was nearly all the way down but I can still hear it perfectly well. " In my room mom". She walked in and gave me a kiss on the cheek, I couldn't get my eyes off the love birds on the TV,in this case the love wolves. It's like mom was telling me something because the next minute  WHAM!! She hit me with a throw pillow on my shoulder. I paused my film and turned my attention to her.

"Mmh?"

" Kim I was asking how was school, don't you get tired watching that?" I ignored her last question and told her school was eventful. I ended up telling her about Jordan.

"There's just this guy who couldn't leave me alone". At this I saw her visibly stiffen, "mom are you okay?" She tried to cover it with a believable smile and I let it go.

" What is his name sweetie". Now I was concerned because she was pale all of a sudden, I lightly held her on her forearm's and move her go to sit on my bed. " Mom it was really nothing Jordan was only being annoying, insisting if we could be friends. Are you okay, you are pale all of a sudden." I saw her stiff shoulders relax slightly.

"Nothing sweetie, what would you like for dinner? I was thinking we could order some food and binge watch,but not wolf movies this once." I hopped off the couch and switches off my tv. She went to drop her things in her room and I go to order food, " mom how does pizza sound?" She replied that it's okay.We binge watched in the tv room curled into one another with lots  of snacks, pizza and drinks till not so late because tomorrow I have school and mom have work.
  
I woke in the middle of the night, felling hot and thirsty, I looked over at my nightstand to see my water jar empty. I swing my feet off the bed and slide down,I didn't need to put on my lights because I see just fine. I'm still confused with my abilities , I think I should tell mom of all the changes I've been having. I hope she will not freak out on me, the worse that can happen is if  she also think I am a freak and ship me to the mental asylum.

I tiptoed across the room,not wanting to wake my mom up, I still wonder why she was all weird when I told her about Jordan being annoying. I thought she wants me to go out more and make friends... I hold the door handle and twisted it very slowly and hear it click open,I yanked it the rest of the way. All the doors in our house don't creak so I was not worried of it making any sound.I slowly stepped out of my room and did not expect to see mom's lights on and sure as hell did not expect to hear her talking to someone. I remained on my door and listen in on her conversation,she sniffed then " you can't imagine how scared I was,I know they are destined to be together but I want her to be with me a little bit longer before she leaves. I thought he'd finally found her."

 I felt my blood go cold, she is talking about me, this definitely concerns the conversation we had earlier, she thought Jordan is here to take me away. Why is she afraid that someone is coming for me?  Omg, Is she being blackmailed?  But.. destined to be together...?? Who? Why? How?  I remember how pale she got earlier but when I said Jordan's name she relaxed. What is happening here?  Does dad know about this? Who is she taking to and who is that 'he' she mentioned? who's supposed to find me?? I wait on baited breath as she listens to the person on the other side talk, now I wish my abilities were more powerful that I can hear what's being said.

" No Mason, I'm not going to allow that to happen anytime soon." Silence then "maybe  she should be homeschooled now that he is back, it's only for a year then she can go back to school, after all she is not a social person I don't think that will be a problem" I furrowed my eyebrows, so dad is in this too, what are they hiding from me?  " Yes I can do that,she is my baby and I don't want to let her go just yet, I took her away once and I will do it again." Mom said with a finality that my blood go cold, she took me away???

With my thirst forgotten I quietly stepped back into my room and closed the door as silently as possible. My heart was pumping in my chest, I hold it to try and make it beat shower afraid that mom might hear it, I feel anger bubbling inside me, what do they think they are to try and change my destiny... What is it even about, destiny??.. maybe it is something bad and they are trying to make sure I am safe. But it's like dad was trying to talk her out of it ugh!!!!  Where did she take me away from?
 
First dad talks me into coming here that I need my mom more, I know he was not happy sending me here. Then all these enhanced senses I got since I arrived. I am sure mom's room is sounds proof, there's this time me and dad were visiting, I was in the corridor when mom opened her door to come out and I heard football game playing in the background I think dad was watching,when she closed the door the corridor fell back to silence. Then again mom always hears when I call  but to respond to me she always comes out of her room,I never thought much to it until now. This means if her door wasn't slightly ajar tonight I would have never heard that conversation. What are my parents hiding from me?
 
All these thoughts are  stressing me out. With all that in mind I snuggle deeper into my covers and my thoughts lulled me back to sleep.The blaring of an alarm woke me up with a start, thank God it was not a rooster. I slapped it to shut the annoying sound and threw off the covers, I smiled when I imagined mom waiting to hear the sound of alarm connecting with wall. Hello world,meet  the renewed version of Kimberly Winters. I made may bed, when I was finished there was a knock on the door " come in mom." The door opened and I turned to see mom looking at my bed with shock. I kissed her on the cheek, she was looking back and forth between me and the bed.
 
" Kimberly,you've already made your bed? And the alarm is intact? " I am not sure if she was asking or telling me, I just smiled at her and went to my bathroom to brush my teeth and take a shower.I later met her in the kitchen,I was all ready to go to school with my bag and everything. I saw her eying my bag " Kim, you are so excited for school today" I just mmmed as I went to get a cup and make myself tea with some toasted bread, when tea was ready and toast popped out of  the toster I put them on a plate and grabbed blackberry jam from the fridge.
   
"Sweetie, we need to talk. I have this friend of mine who is a private tutor,and she is very good at it. I was hopping she could take you through junior Year then you can go to school next year,what do you say?".

 No shit Sherlock. " No mom, I'm okay with school." Kept it short and sweet, and didn't miss the look of disappointment that she covered up immediately. I will go to school everyday till I find out what it is about this destiny thingy they were talking about.

" Are you sure about that? What if that Jordan guy keeps annoying you, you know sometimes it gets out of control, you never know what someone is going through" No you don't pull Jordan card on me.

"Leave it mom, I can handle him" I say with a hint of annoyance, she should really drop this act,it I hadn't heard her conversation yesternight I would have gladly accept. That got me thinking,what else have I been dragged to agreed to or not. I quickly finish my breakfast and put the used utensils in the dishwasher. " Bye mom and you are late for work today" I kiss her cheek, take my bag and was out of the door as fast as light.

 During the bus ride ,with my playlist blasting in my ears in a reasonable volume from yesterday considering my enhanced hearing is somehow more sharper today my mind drift to all the events of the previous night. What if the homeschooling is for my own benefit? What if this person that is after me 'destined' is a serial killer or something. Maybe I should trust my mom and trust her judgement.
