Tied back to back, Adrien and Marinette sit alone in a pitch black room. Marinette finally awakened as Adrien sat in silence, tears rolling down his face. So much had already happened in a short tie that he couldn't keep in his emotions anymore. Adrien twisted his miraculous around his finger with his hand that was closely tied to the other. Adrien wondered why his dad didn't take his ring, but then again he didn't know his dad as much as he thought he did. The man he used to live with was a terrorist and murderer. The man he looked up to was his worst enemy.
"Adrien? Are you awake?" Marinette turned her face to the right to try and face the boy, but since they were back to back she could only turn her head in his direction. "I'm here Princess." He said as she grabs his hand with hers, still tied behind their backs.
"I'm sorry, for everything. This is it for us Adrien. Shadowmoth, Gabriel, whatever has probably already done his worst by now." Marinette let a tear fall down her face, mixing with the blood from a scratch on her cheek. She felt hopeless.
"Marinette, Don't give up. We can think of something. You're ladybug for crying out loud." He said, trying to imagine the girls face behind him.
"Think? What do I know? I've been clueless this whole time. About Alya, You, Your father. Even since I became guardian. And now Paris is going to suffer because of my mistakes." Tears streamed down the girls face as her voice seemed almost numb. She wished she could reverse time before she was ladybug, all those years ago.
"No! Don't say that! I've been clueless too." Adrien turns his head slightly, directing his voice to the girl. He knew she felt like it was her fault, but he knew it wasn't. "Adrien?" She asks, her voice cracking slightly.
"Do you ever wonder what it would have been like if Master Fu never gave us the miraculous?" She says, thinking about how much simpler time was before she was the Parisian hero. "What?" Adrien questioned. "I mean, I would hate the idea of never meeting Tikki, but what if you and I just knew one another in school and lived like every other teenager? Maybe I would have gotten the courage to finally talk to you. We could have been really close and let other people save Paris." She sighed, letting her chin lay against her own chest as the tears continued to pour. "If only I had never told Alya I was ladybug. Then this would have never happened. I mean yeah, your dad would still be shadowmoth, but I've messed up so much. And it lead to our defeat. Paris would have been better without me." She continued.
"Don't say that Marinette! We were meant to be a team, and to meet like we did. If I hadn't gotten to know you as ladybug, I would have had no idea how actually fearless you are. Or how sarcastic you can be when I get on your nerves. Or even how you can think out a way in any problem. And If you didn't know me as Adrien, you'd probably think I was a shameless flirt who knows nothing but how to get into trouble." Adrien explained to the girl, causing the tears to stop pouring down her cheeks.
"Well you are though. But you're also more than that too." She smiled, trying to forget the situation thy were in by the calming sound of his voice as she closed her eyes. "Exactly what I mean." He grinned slightly.
They grabbed one another's hands again, holding tightly now. "As bad as things are right now. I wouldn't change a single moment we've shared together." Adrien rubs her hand with his thumb as he speaks. "Us against the world right?" Marinette laid the back of her head against the boy's as she spoke. "Always, M'lady, always." He sighed.
A burst of light emerged as a large window across the room opened. Revealing a large garden of butterflies around a large metal encasing. Gabriel, now de-transformed, emerged from the shadows as the two looked in fear. "I've always been here Adrien. For you! For us!" The man raises his voice as he faces the metal object in the middle of the garden. "You've done nothing for the family! After mom left you never talked to me, you stopped being my father after she left!" Adrien yelled at the tall man. Gabriel turned around and scoffed at the boy.
"I've done way more than you may think son." He kneels down towards the two teens, looking at Adrien first then over to Marinette. He reaches into his pocket and pulls out a controller. With a press of a button, the metal encasing starts to open. Inside lays the mother of Adrien. Emilie Agreste.
Adrien squeezed Marinette's hand, looking for some sort of comfort in the girl as words failed to leave his mouth. His mother was here the entire time, and his dad knew. He was devastated.
"When I use your miraculouses, I'm going to bring your mother back. But, I wanted you to do it with me. Now knowing that you're chat noir, we can stop being enemies and become a family again. After all I've done, it has lead up to this moment!" Gabriel explains.
"You've done nothing but terrorize Paris for the past five years! You think this is what mom would want?! For you to hurt innocent people for your selfish reason! She would be ashamed of you!" Adrien yelled at his father, causing him to be at a loss of words.
"Adrien." Marinette speaks up. "I think you should loosen up a bit and listen to him." She emphasizes on the word loosen as Adrien feels a slight tug at his hand. Plagg was untying them and Marinette was trying to stall.
"You've come to your senses Dupain-Cheng. I'm glad that at least you can understand love. That's why I'v always been found of you and my son's relationship. Adrien, why can't you be more like your little girlfriend here?" He says, smirking at Marinette. "Fine, dad. I'll help you under one condition. I make the wish." Adrien sates, causing his father to stand again. "I'm not dumb, son. I will be the only one making the wish. It's time you give me your miraculous." He says, reaching down for the rope the that ties the two together. His expression changes to shock as he notices the lack of rope, and Adrien is no longer wearing his ring.
"Where is it!" He screams shoving the two apart since they are no longer tied to one another. "I gave you the chance to do this peacefully, and I won't do it again. Give me the ring Adrien!" He says, focused on his son and not the girl running towards him. She leaps and rips the earrings off of him that he had been wearing. He shoves her away and smirks. "You think I would let some dumb girl win over me! Tikki, Spots on!" He yells, but nothing happens. He looks around in shock for Tikki, the he raises his hands up to his ears.
Feeling the missing earrings, he looks over to Marinette in shock as she puts them on. She then reaches into her pocket and pulls out Chat Noir's ring, slipping it on her finger. "If I'm just a dumb girl, then you are an idiotic pig! Tikki, Plagg, Unify!" She transforms as a large beam of light surrounds her.
