A former Commander who has a complicated past with Azur Lane that is full of nothing but pain and suffering is chosen to be their Commander again or is given a similar job by the UN (United Nations). But does he want to see his old subordinates and...
Sous-lieutenant Vogel sat on his couch in the family room wearing his woodland, F3 uniform without his tactical gloves which revealed numerous pairs of engagement and wedding rings on each hand that occupied almost every finger except for his thumb and pinky along with an Seiko watch with a leather band on his right wrist. As he sat in his dorm which was just the same as he remembered it as he watched the movie Dien Bien Phu on his tv in his living room while enjoying a Cohiba short cigar and a glass of Alberta Premium Dark Horse whiskey from the rare collection as he worked on fleet formations as well as other random paperwork. Until there was several knocks at his door causing him to pause his movie, rest his cigarette on the edge of the ash tray and get up and open the door.

"Hey Lieutenant, we are having a party down the hall, are you joining?" Asked Cpt. Ashly as music trickled into his dorm with her peering into his dorm.
"Party for what exactly?" He inquired with squinted eyes.
"For, first successful mission and hell you got anything else you would rather be doing." She answered with a smile.
He looked back at the table of endless papers and sighed. "Fine, just give me a minute." He replied in his cold emotionless voice before walking off to cover his hands in tan combat gloves, grabbed a pack of Black Devil Black cigarettes, his dragon zippo lighter which was gold and black with a ruby in the centre, extinguished his already lit cig, turned off the TV and grabbed a bottle of Grey Goose and Pinnacle vodka. Before leaving out the door and locking it behind him.

"So where were you doing anything before I called you?" She inquired, wanting to know a little more about her Commander.
"I was watching a movie while doing some meaningless paperwork." The Sous-lieutenant answered.
"What were you watching and was it any good?" The Captain inquired.
"Dien Bien Phu." He replied in his usual tone. "As for how good it is, it's in French but any could really make out the general theme of the movie with a low knowledge of the language and it depicts the battle of Dien Bien Phu and the conditions the soldiers had to deal with. Also the movie is good because it depicts Azur Lane's tactic of building fixed fortifications and hoping to drag the enemy into a decisive battle but like Dien Bien Phu and the Maple Line that is not the case as the enemy simply overwhelmed the defences and over time the fortifications became weakened and the defenders were hung out to dry like Outpost 23. So in the end warfare never changes."
