♥︎Chapter 3:                                                            There's no 'we' in Five Hargreeves

Technically, Angelina's wish was true. The boy standing in front of her was a murderer.

He stood at the end of the dark alley, barely visible in the shadows, still wearing the strange uniform that was now crisp and clean and free of blood. She didn't make any move to run. She knew he could appear in front of her in a matter of seconds.

She kept a calm composure, even though she was freaking out. Her first thoughts were that he had given her time to think she was safe and to calm down, and then come back and kill her. She knew too much and that's why he was here. She should've told Patch he was there. He had come for her, he had tracked her down, she had no idea how.

Like he had read her mind, he stepped forward into a stream of sunlight so he was more visible to the girl. It was the first time she had actually seen him clearly.

"Angelina Campbell, born October 1st, 2004, parents are unknown but presumed dead, admitted to an orphanage over a year ago," the boy spoke mechanically, like he was naming things off of a shopping list. Angelina tried to remain calm, but she couldn't help the horror seeping into her bones or her eyes now the size of saucers. Even though he could clearly see her fear, he continued.

"After hours of evaluation, she was deemed troubled, and was diagnosed with night terrors and PTSD from unknown circumstances."

He had begun walking closer to her at a very slow pace, taking long strides with his hands shoved in his pockets. Angelina was frozen on the spot. She could only stare at the boy in horror. Not a lot of people knew about what he was talking about, and those who did thought she was a mentally unstable freak, but this boy looked more intrigued than weirded out. He looked as though he was expecting an answer, like his whole speech was a question, but she couldn't speak. He was only a few feet in front of her when he stopped walking.

"I'm not here to kill you. I need your help and I'm pretty sure you need mine."

And that was how Angelina had ended up in quite the predicament. Walking up the street with the weird boy, to a location he refused to tell her. There wasn't much of a debate to whether she was going to accompany him on his supposed grand mission, which he also refused to inform her on.

She was quite frankly too afraid to disagree, not that she'd admit it. There was also a mild sense of risk and danger that seemed appealing to the whole offer, sounding much more entertaining than being locked in her room all day. Even though she knew that it was the exact same behavior that got her stuck in that situation in the first place, she decided against her better judgment, which wasn't that much better than it probably should have been.
