Chapter 12: Book
We arrived early in the morning at our room. May klase kami ngayon sa history sa ganitong oras. We discussed among ourselves that if one of us is not out on time when we're leaving for class, there will be a punishment waiting for each of us individually. We don't want any punishments because our egos won't accept them.
We were born to be leaders someday, not just simple leaders, but powerful leaders of each clan. We were raised to be like that. Even some princes and princesses who don't want the responsibility of leading their territories have no choice but to accept it because they can't entrust their duties to others. What will happen to their kingdom's future if they neglect it?
Mas mabuti kung ikaw mismo ang mamumuno. We couldn't just trust someone else to handle it because even the person you trust the most could betray you.
Our class began, but my mind wasn't there. I shrugged off my thoughts and focused on our lesson. I couldn't even absorb the words our professor was saying. My mind was elsewhere.
I sighed and rested my head on the crystal table.
What if I took the book?
What if I knew the password to the necklace and took it?
What if the guard saw me?
What would happen? Would it cause chaos?
Taking the necklace would surely cause chaos in this academy, but if I took the book? I'm not sure if it would cause chaos because the book is just placed on the bookshelves. It seems they don't care about the book.
But if they truly don't care about the book, why would stealing it matter?
Baka naman trip lang nila?
Really, Amara?
I let out another heavy sigh.
I rolled my eyes.
Sabagay, as King said, it might be advantageous. That means it's important.
I smiled. I just realized I still have a brain.
I lazily leaned back in my chair when our professor called me. My laziness immediately disappeared.
"Yes?" I answered as I stood up, looking at Mr. Arius seriously while my ears listened to the mumblings of the other elites.
I rolled my eyes again. Wala talagang makabuluhan ang mga sinasabi. Ayokong manghusga pero prinsesa't prinsipe ba talaga sila? They seem more like bees—so noisy. They don't know the word "silent."
Tsk.
"What was my lecture about?"
"History." I wanted to roll my eyes but it may look sarcasm. Totoo naman 'yong sinabi ko. Ano nga ba ang tinatalakay niya? Hindi ba ay history? Halata naman sa subject. Tsk.
Hindi na bali, mamaya, I will kill them on my favorite tambayan in the garden.
I smiled, but it vanished when I saw my three companions trying to suppress their laughter. I looked at them irritably.
Eh, what if I kill them too? I'm sure they won't laugh at me anymore because they'll be dead.
Our professor cleared his throat and looked at me seriously. "Yes, indeed. My lecture is about history because that's our subject. But please don't be sarcastic in my class." He glanced around, a hint of sadness crossing his face, which quickly faded. "Two of your classmates are now deceased."
