Chapter 14: Six Things, One Word
"Every tribe has a necklace that symbolizes each clan. This necklace holds enough power to control and strengthen the heir's abilities. It can even alter the user's physical appearance."
This topic had captured our attention unlike anything else recently.
Professor Arius was about to speak when someone interrupted, "Like Darna on Earth? Well, not exactly since Darna swallows a stone to transform into a human-bird hybrid. But with our necklace, we transform too! It's amazing! Just like Darna on Earth."
Napangiwi ako dahil sa narinig. Everyone laughed. Wait...
It was hard to trust anyone in this world full of mysteries and dangers.
Every tribe? So it means, mayroon din sa amin? Could it be the same necklace our professor talked about, the one I've been searching for?"
I sighed.
I hadn't seen any other necklaces in that room. Maybe they were in another room?
I sighed again.
I listened quietly until the class ended. As we walked together to our next class, Syren suddenly asked, "Our Queen once showed us her necklace. My mother, the Queen's sister, was jealous because she never got to touch it. When she tried, she was thrown back."
She shrugged and turned to us. "I didn't know each tribe had their own necklace. They must be important, right?"
"Yes, incredibly important, as they enhance one's power."
"Hmm, I wonder what other colors these necklaces come in? Ours is a violet pearl covered with onyx."
She was clearly curious about the necklaces.
We stood ready, about to practice using various knives. We had been learning different weapons for weeks now, but even though we knew how to use most of them, we still needed more practice. This subject was sure to exhaust us.
I was lost in thought when our professor arrived. She positioned herself in front of us, giggling.
Sumama ang mukha ko. May topak ba ito?
Professor Claudia suddenly looked at me, furrowing her brow. "Excuse me, Miss Ruthven? I don't have any issues."
My eyes widened. My cheeks flushed as I awkwardly smiled at her.
I quickly closed my mind off to block her. We were also taught to shield our thoughts. None of us wanted others to know what we were thinking. All elites were trained in telepathy and mental defense in our class, Power Control and Enhancement.
"Oh, really?" She smiled knowingly.
Pasulot pa, Amara.
I closed my eyes tightly and reopened them seconds later. "Yes, Miss."
