Lorelai practically carried you into the house and up the stairs.
she laid you on her bed despite your protest
"no Lorelai, I'm sorry... I can't stay here" you cried gently holding onto her forearms tightly as you begged her to take you back to the hotel
"no, you need to be here, so I can take care of you. let me take care of you sweetheart" she cooed stroking your hair
the action relaxed you. your head fell back on the pillow under you and your eyes closed, you focused on her gentle touch on your forehead and hairline
she stayed with you for a few minutes after you fell asleep just watching you
if she knew telling you she needed a break. a break from the relationship, a break from you. if someone would have told her that this is the way you would have reacted. that you would turn to booze. she would have never even voiced her concern to you.
she didn't end things because she fell out of love with you. because she didn't.... she loved you more than life itself. and seeing you like this broke her completely in two.
she left the room with a loud sigh as she gently closed the door behind herself.
she was Rory leaning on the door frame of the upstairs bathroom.
"Is she in there?" Rory asked gently sensing how fragile the situation was
"yeah kid, she's home" Lorelai forced a small smile ruffling her daughter's hair as she began to walk down the steps
"is she going to be ok-" Rory's concerned words stopped Lorelai in her tracks at the bottom of the steps
"she doesn't want you to worry about here, let me deal with it, please?" Lorelai sighed trying to let Rory down gently.
Rory followed closely behind her mom as Lorelai began heading toward the kitchen
"because if she needs anything I can always run to Doose's and-"
"Rory I said enough" she snapped closing the fridge door with a swift slam
"why don't you go to grandma's without me tonight- I can't leave y/n tonight" she sighed trying not to take her frustration with you, and herself, out on Rory
"ok" Rory smiled awkwardly. she'd never seen her mother like this.. she didn't like it.
"we'll join you next week" Lorelai smiled walking her daughter to the door and watching the car pull out o the driveway and onto the road until she couldn't see it anymore
when you woke up a few hours later and your immediately went to the front porch knowing you'd find Lorelai out there
"there she is" Lorelai smiled slightly at you
"come sit" she patted the seat next to her on the small couch outside
you sat close to her and she wrapped her arm around you forcing your still pounding head to her shoulder.
the sun had set long ago and there was a cool breeze causing you to nuzzle slightly into Lorelai
"where's Rory, is she ok?" you asked genuinely
"shes at my moms" she stated simply rubbing your arm to warm you up
"ah right, it's Friday" you chuckled nervously
"and she'll be better once she sees you, once she gets to talk to you... she's not happy with the information I'm willing to supply her" Lorelai chuckled slightly at the thought of her overly involved daughter
"I'm sorry Lore" sh heard you sniff from her shoulder
"let's not cry anymore" she pulled your head into her lap now so you were laid across the remaining part o the bench
"I love you and I'm sorry" you repeated again not being able to stop the small trails of tears leaving your eyes
you grabbed her hand that was on her own lap, her other one resting gently on your hip, top hold her hand.
you brought her arm closer to you hugging her to tightly to your chest, you locked your fingers with hers and brought her hand up to your lips where you kissed it repeatedly soaking it slightly with the tears from your face
"I love you, I swear I love you" you repeated yourself, eventually soothing yourself back to sleep
"I know y/n" Lorelai let a silent tear escape her eye as she looked down at your head on her lap
"I love you too" she leaned down to press a kiss to your head.
