"You only die once, shortened to YODO, is a factual statement. We often hear YOLO, which means You Only Live Once, and that's not at all correct, because we are given this beauteous opportunity to live everyday. One only dies once, and if one does not die well, there is no turning back; all chances for change are lost."

"We are alive everyday, indeed. However, we only have one life. Given that we only have this one life to live in, we have to live our lives to the fullest everyday and take risks. You said it yourself; we only die once, and if one does not die well, all chances for change are lost." Oddly, there was almost a smile that could be heard as the opposition used my own words against me. "Carpe diem, seize the day. If not now, then when?"

I smiled cordially and shook my head. "Your statement, YOLO, will make us chase the wrong things in life. Let us have the privileged people, for example. They are the only ones who can take risks because they know that if they were to fail, they would still be safe, because after all, they are privileged. But what about us, normal people? Billions of us, normal people? Speaking on behalf of more than half the world's population, we don't have the luxuries to take risks because we are aware that often, taking risks leads to an unfavorable outcome. Adding the aspect of the domino effect to that, our lives could go downhill onwards because of that one risk that we had taken."
