━━THE FOLLOWING DAY, daiyu and seyeon's grandparents returned from their short trip up the mountain.

daiyu was glad to see their weathered and kind faces when she awoke, offering her breakfast. though reluctantly, she agreed, only because they should be resting after trekking up a mountain for a day and a half.

after being pulled into a tight embrace by her grandmother, a steaming bowl of soup was placed before her.

seyeon had yet to wake, still wrapped in blankets and snoring peacefully. daiyu didn't wake him—it was the weekend, after all.

"eat up, child. you'll need strength to make it through the day." the elderly woman smiled as she continued to stir the pot.

daiyu raised an eyebrow, confused.

her grandfather must've caught the look on her face because he added to his wife's statement, "didn't seyeon tell you? he has an audition today with a friend. i thought he'd take you along to calm his nerves."

"oh, that!" daiyu snapped her fingers in remembrance. it had been one of the first things seyeon told her when they took her in. "i totally forgot it was today. of course i'm going."

"that's good. seyeon needs a lot of support from his loved ones." the elderly woman hummed.

daiyu finished her food, thanking the two elders before heading to wake seyeon so he could prepare.

upon walking into the room, she smiled softly at the sight of a curled-up seyeon, his hands wrapped around a spare decorative pillow. shaking his shoulder slightly, daiyu leaned down to whisper.

"seyeon. wake up. today's your audition, remember?"

groggily, seyeon opened his eyes, blinking into the light. incoherent mumbles left his lips as he frantically sprang up, dashing around the room.

"oh no! i forgot—i'm going to be late!" he cried as he slammed the door to his bathroom shut, clothes in hand.

after a few short minutes, seyeon bolted out of the room, freshly bathed and changed.

daiyu followed after him, half amused and half worried. especially once he started scarfing down his breakfast.

"slow down, jeez," she muttered as the brown-haired boy almost choked on his soup.

"no time!" he dismissed, springing from the chair as though it was on fire before running out the door, yelling behind his shoulder, "hurry up, daiyu!"

"i'm going, damn." she replied, grabbing her wallet and a pair of sunglasses.

‎ ‎ ━━SEOJUN WAS ALREADY waiting by their house as seyeon and daiyu stepped out, a dark-haired girl standing beside him.

daiyu grinned at the boy, offering her fist briefly so he could bump his own against it.

"never in a million years would i have imagined the han seojun being interested in a career as an idol." she snorted, pushing her sunglasses up to the top of her head.

"fuck off," he rolled his eyes with a grin.

daiyu peered down at the rather quiet girl beside seojun, giving her a smile that softened around the corners.

"and who might this lovely lady be?" daiyu asked.

"this is my little sister, han gowoon. gowoon, this is zhao daiyu and jeong seyeon." he explained, his tone considerably softer when speaking to his younger sister.
