My eyes fluttered, but I had no strength to make out the situation or environment. Where was I? Someone was calling me, that was for sure. From distance. The voice was coming from a distance, too far from me. It was deep, weird deep. My head hurt, my body was in pain and I frowned, trying to remember what happened to me.

Was I feverish? Ah, mum was going to be mad at me for not taking care of myself. There was a beep. Then everything stopped, and I opened my eyes to focus on the person sitting on the chair. "Tao," I whispered, feeling my throat closing in. White walls. Smell. Hospital. What?

Tao was slouching, his head lolled to the side in an awkward angle. His hand was holding mine, and I tried to squeeze his fingers to wake him up but couldn't find enough strength. Just then the door opened and Tao jumped, startled, then his eyes went to me, and he gasped.

"You're awake." He was on his feet, cupping my face, scanning me as if he couldn't believe it. Then he was crying. Like literally crying. "You're awake. God, Sunhee... You're fine. You survived."

Behind him, two more people appeared. Sana and Jongin. The second our eyes met, they burst into tears. What? What? What? Why was everyone crying? I closed my eyes and weird flashbacks entered my mind. Oh God. Tan. Eun Sang unnie. Was she fine? Oh God. I failed to protect her. Sana ran out to call the doctor when the monitor beside me started beeping fast.

"Sunshine." Jongin walked around to sit down on the other side of my bed. "Sunshine you're fine. Calm down. Breath with me, in... Out." I followed his rhythm and blinked. If Jongin wasn't mad at me, that meant Eun Sang was fine. I teared up, and he gently removed the lone tear that slipped my eye. "You're fine. You're fine. You're safe."

I nodded, feeling choked. It was overwhelming. I didn't know what happened after I fell unconscious down the stairs, but seeing them here gave me some sort of a comfort. That everything was alright outside this hospital room.

The doctor checked me. I had a surgery because the mother fucker Tan, who was behind the bars right now, had cracked my head open. There was a knife scar over my neck too, near my collarbone. If it was anywhere near my pulse point, any deeper... even the thought gave me shivers. Since Eun Sang was in therapy, we didn't tell her about my accident. She was already busy to process her life traumas.

I was discharged from the hospital later that week. Bed rest was a priority. Something had changed, I didn't know what, but when I logged into sns, I came to know about the departure of Exo-m leader. No wonder Jongin looked so upset the whole week. I made a mental note to talk to him about it after he got a bit free from his schedules.

"You shouldn't visit me." I opened the door to my room. "Tao, you're always tired with all the rehearsals. You should rest."

"I will. Later." Tao walked past me and sat on the bed. "Come." He patted the seat next to him.

I sighed, and sat beside him. I was recovering well, but weakness was still there. My all modeling assignments were cancelled at the moment. "What is it?"

"Do you have feelings for Jongin?" He asked, and I looked up.

"What?"

"You do. Don't you?" He tilted his head, and I looked away, avoiding his eyes. "Sunhee, before my confession, we were friends. Tell me the truth."

"Jongin takes me as a friend," I replied instead.

If heartbreak had a face, then it was Tao right now. I felt bad, no worse, for putting him through this pain, but lying was useless. I couldn't deceive him like that. He needed, no, deserved to know the truth and move on. I would never love him. Never.
