From afar he could see an animal approaching him, rustling leaves around itself. It was hidden in the greenery, until it got close enough. Jaemin felt slightly releaved to see that it was just a deer and not a more dangerous animal. The deer continued walking closer. Jaemin thought it would go look for some food somewhere, but the deer only moved closer towards him. Jaemin froze and continued to stare at it as it kept approaching him.

Deer usually run away quick, so he tried not to move too much. He stayed as still as possible, staring at the animal, until it was about a foot away from where he was sitting. Jaemin raised a careful hand towards it, waiting for a reaction. The deer only stared at his hand then looked back at his face. Jaemin then realized that this deer might not be a regular deer at all, but he didn't want to be stupid and assume, so he just got up from his spot and waited a bit.

"Are you here to help me?" He asked, after the deer just kept awkwardly staring at him for what felt like forever without doing anything. The deer suddenly shook its head.

"So you do understand me?" Jaemin asked with wide eyes. The deer only blinked long and slow. Jaemin frowned.

"Okay, well I guess I'd better go try and help myself then." He huffed. Jaemin turned around and started walking away quickly, when he heard a loud rustling and a sudden mocking laughter come from behind him.

Jaemin froze and quickly turned to see a boy sitting on the ground, where the deer had been. He sat surrounded by leaves, throwing his head back in laughter. Jaemin got closer to him, standing over him. Two antlers were protruding from the top of his head of wavy hair and they looked so fake, but Jaemin knew better. The boy then laid down on the floor after a while, sighing and holding his stomach in what looked like contentment. How was it even comfortable to lay with antlers? Jaemin noted that he was barefoot.

"Um..."

"Oh my gosh, I love messing with people but there hasn't been people around in ages!" The boy cheered, soft and high. Jaemin didn't know what to do so he kept quiet as the boy stretched out his arms.

"Here comes the sun doodoodoo~ Here comes the sun when I say, it's alright~" The deer-like boy sang, sitting back up. Jaemin's eyes widened as he heard that. Not only did he realize it was the song he was singing, but the boy sang it so beautifully, as if he had been born to sing, as if he was invoking the sun himself. Jaemin laughed at his thought. Pretty, he thought to himself. This boy was pretty. He fit the deer look, though Jaemin thought he looked more like a pudu, the smallest species of deer.

"Donghyuck at your service!" The boy exclaimed, then bowed his head like singers do after a performance. "Now help me up little peasant boy." Donghyuck held a hand up towards Jaemin. Jaemin complied and helped him get up off the ground.

"I'm...Jaemin." He spoke shyly.

"I know." Donghyuck laughed. "What brings you back here though? I thought you'd be too scared to come back? I was sure I wouldn't get to meet you."

"Scared?" Jaemin frowned.

"Well, yeah, after seeing a bunch of chimera people, one would surely be scared." Donghyuck began walking and Jaemin followed behind him.

"How..." Jaemin began, but stopped himself. He had so many questions he wanted to ask Donghyuck, but would it be rude and intrusive?

"It's a long story."

"Huh?"

"You're asking how it's possible that we are this way?" Donghyuck cocked a brow.

"Well, yes, but I have a lot of other questions too." Jaemin sighed.
