The DUFF... a fanfic adaptation

TROY

Troy is the epitome of perfection. He's got long permed hair, expressive eyes and luscious lips. He always carries a guitar with him since he's into music.

You've heard him play in a school event and that was the reason why you fell madly in love with him. He has a nice voice and he makes his own songs which you find so cool.

"Go say hi..." Maegan nudges you to greet Troy but your feet seemed to be rooted on the ground.

"I can't... he's too perfect... I might smudge him." You say in reply, clutching on to your bag like you always do when you're nervous.

"Nobody's perfect... just focus on his flaws." Halsey suggested with a smirk.

You look at him from head to foot and you don't see anything to focus on because he has no flaws. He's just there, talking to a bunch of guys and girls who are clearly crushing on him like you. Yet, you can't bring yourself to walk over and say hi.

The bell rings and you're snatched right back to reality. You take one last look at Troy and you're not sure if it's just your crazy mind playing tricks on you but he looked at you with his cute smile before turning his back to walk away.

F*ck! Did that really happen? You were in a great mood the entire day, reminiscing that moment when Troy smiled at you. NOTHING can ruin your day until last period Chem lab came.

You were busy minding your own business. Humming while mixing chemical compounds in a beaker, when you're startled by the sudden presence of someone pouring in a new chemical from a test tube.

"Hey! Stop that..." You hiss at the annoying boy in front of you.

"Aren't you done yet?" Jungkook asked, looking over you impatiently.

"Does it look like I'm done here?" You snapped at him, gritting your teeth as he continues to meddle with your stuff.

"I love it when you're feisty!" He says teasingly. "Why are you working alone anyway? Don't you have a lab partner?"

"I work BEST when I'm alone, so if you have nothing important to tell me, better walk away."

"Wow... that sounded so perverted... like you're telling me you love masturbating better than sex." Jungkook says with a naughty smirk.

"You see? That's why WE don't talk... you always twist my words into something else... pervert!" You hiss at him silently.

"Whoa, chill A... I'm just saying hello. No need to go full-on HULK... unless we're in bed, then I'll allow it." He says that leaning in, trying to catch your eyes.

"Jungkook, if you don't stop pestering me, I swear to God I'm cutting your dick off in your sleep." You threatened him,

He backs off a little, raising both hands to surrender. That's just how you guys are since forever. Remember that tiny detail about you having 2 best friends? Well, you used to have one male best friend even before Maegan came... Jungkook.

You practically grew up together to the point that every single childhood memory you have involved him in the picture. You live next door to each other and his room is right smack overlooking yours.

In the past years you saw that as an advantage since you sneak into each others' rooms all the time to play games or watch late night dramas. He was attending another school back then so he was kind of your neighborhood best friend while Maegan and Halsey were your school best friends.

Then he had to transfer to your school so he could get a college grant from playing football. It wasn't really his choice but your school coach actually scouted him.

At first, you were both thrilled to enter high school together in the same school. But fate took a different turn and your paths just separated in 2 totally opposite directions.

For a time you thought you could continue being best friends at home and do the same things like sneaking into each other's rooms. However, you decided to just stop after that one time you caught him making out with a girl in his room.

It was somehow your fault since you just decided to barge in without a warning. Hoping to keep the friendship alive, you initiated going over his room through the window like how you did before but the sight of him in bed, making out with a girl from school, made you realize that you're now 2 totally different people.

Then one day you just decided to seal off that window overlooking his. You can't stand another night of seeing him having fun with different girls. Jealous? Not really, you just miss the way you used to be and judging by the way Jungkook is enjoying his puberty, he's not gonna come around and stay friends with you forever.

"Will you please hurry up so I can leave?" He says sounding irritated that you're taking time finishing your experiment.

"Oh you're still there!" You snap at him with sarcasm.

"Just... take a minute off from that then."

"Kook... I don't have you on leash so you can buzz off anytime... so shoo!"

"But I need a favor..." He sounded desperate which totally caught your attention.

"What the hell would YOU need from ME?" You asked, giving him a suspicious look. "This isn't one of those hidden camera pranks right?"

"For fuck's sake... A, I'm serious." He said with those pleading eyes.
