Come Monday you and Jungkook had to go straight to class from the airport. He was actually sweet enough to carry your big ass travel bag while he lets you take care of his knapsack.

You weren't together in all subjects so he was out of your sight the entire morning. Making your way to the cafeteria never felt awkward until today. Seeing Maegan and Halsey at your usual table made you want to reconsider skipping lunch.

You don't know why but somehow you felt the need to avoid them. At first you felt so guilty not inviting them to your birthday party but that didn't last because neither of them even had a clue that you  just had your birthday.

A little throwback to how you used to celebrate your birthday with them then you realized they knew it was your birthday simply because you invited them over to your place. Now they have the nerve to look at you like nothing happened.

"Hey A, what have you been up to?" Halsey asked as you reach your table.

"Hey A, it feels like we don't go to the same school anymore. We haven't seen you for like what? More than a week." Maegan says looking puzzled.

"It's surprising how you even noticed I wasn't around." You said in pure sarcasm that caught both friends off guard.

"What exactly do you mean by that?" Halsey asked, looking a bit offended.

"I don't know... does September 23 ring a bell at all?" You asked, almost hoping they'd remember it was your freaking birthday.

"Uhm... were we suppose to go out?" Maegan asked looking back and forth between you and Halsey who also looked too confused to even give out an answer.

"We did go out... I remember we were at Ashley's party. That was last weekend right?" Halsey says with so much excitement that felt like a stab on your chest. Well thank you for remembering somebody else's birthday!

"Yeah... what's wrong A? Was it because we didn't insist for you to come?" Meagan asked looking regretful.

"I don't think so... Amy, we all know you too well to just ditch us because we didn't ask you to come to a party. There's something else right?" Halsey hoped you'd at least answer a yes or no.

"It was just my freaking birthday!" You blurt out of frustration before turning your back and storming out of there. They were clueless... after all these years of celebrating your birthday with two of your most trusted friends, not one of them remembered.

"A wait..." Maegan called out before rushing to your side with Halsey following right behind. "Hey, wait up. Can't we talk about this?" Both of them stopped you by the hallway, making sure to block you from escaping.

"You want to talk? Fine!" You finally stopped and decided to speak up. "Did you even hear about the birthday party I hosted at home on the same night you were partying at Ashley's?"

"We heard about some of the kids coming from another party but we never thought it was yours... why would you host a party without us anyway?" Maegan was clearly confused as she asked the inevitable question.

"Because I wanted to prove that people don't see me as a DUFF!... Apparently I'm wrong."

"Amy..." Halsey says in sympathy. Her eyes gave it away, she obviously knows what a DUFF is and she didn't even say anything to discredit that you are one.

"See? You know I'm the DUFF in our group right? That everyone else is just nice to me to get to your good side!"

"A... please don't say that. You know we care about you regardless of what you are." Maegan says with pure honesty.

"Regardless of being a DUFF?..." You asked with tears already forming in the corners of your eyes. "I see... you know what? I really don't care anymore if everyone sees me as a DUFF... but what really hurts is both of you clearly agree with them."

"Amy..."
"Amy..." Halsey and Maegan said at the same time.

"I'm sorry but I can't do this right now..." You chickened out and didn't want to let them see how hurt you are. It's partly your fault but you're not ready to deal with this.

Just as you got a good distance from the school cafeteria and away from your two best friends in the world you run into Jungkook in the hallway looking at you with a puzzled expression on his face.

"What's wrong?" He asked while holding your arms, looking at your face directly.

"Get me out of here... please." You said as the tears started streaming on your cheeks.
