The DUFF... a fanfic adaptation

"What the f*ck did I do?!" Jungkook curses loudly in his car as he hits the steering wheel with open palms. He clenches his jaw in anger, regretting what he said about the kiss... your first kiss.

Touching his lips where you wiped off the lip gloss, he gives off a low groan after realizing he could still taste that sweet strawberry flavor. Why in heaven's name did he tell you that it's part of the deal? That the kiss was nothing more than step two of unDUFFing you... step two my ass. You both know it's not true.

He patiently waited for you to get out of the building but you haven't stepped out. Twenty minutes later and still no sign of you. Could you have gone home already? There's no way you'd pass by without him noticing.

The next thing he knew, your name and picture came flashing on his phone screen. An adrenaline rush penetrated his entire being and he answered it trying to calm his nerves.

"Hello?..."

"Kookie!!! Did you leave already?" You sounded excited, almost breathless.

"I'm still at the parking lot... are you running?" He asked with a chuckle.

"I'll be right there! Don't go anywhere..." You huffed out while running towards the exit.

The moment he saw you running, he hurriedly got off his car and took long strides to meet you halfway. A wide smile and flushed cheeks were all he could see.

You didn't hesitate one bit and jumped on him after letting all your things fall on the ground a few feet away. Wrapping your arms around his neck, you buried your drenched face in his chest and started laughing your heart out.

"It worked!!!.... It really worked!!!... Thank you Kookie!!!" You said in between giggles, tears forming in your eyes.

"You're welcome... but what exactly happened? Why are you thanking me?" He says in response, hugging you back in return.

You continued giggling but this time a few sniffles escaped in between and you can't hide the fact that you're now crying. "We really did it... it really worked Kookie."

"Wait... are you crying?..." He asked chuckling before pulling away from the hug, lifting your chin with a finger to see your face. "Hey... what's going on?"

You try to wipe off the tears with your bare hands while Jungkook leaned over to kiss your forehead. Giving your skin a few pecks of feathery kisses before helping you wipe off the tears using the sleeve of his hoodie.

"Troy asked me out!" You said in full glee, a wide smile plastered on your face. "You really did it! You successfully unDUFFed me!"

"Oh... he did? I mean... yeah... I..." He stammered awkwardly, not expecting this to happen so soon.

"Say something! This the best time to take credit for everything... come on Jeon!" You encouraged him some more.

"Yeah... of course. I did great huh?" He asked with a weak smile.

"Ugh... don't be so modest! You did more than great! You're fantastic! You're over the top AMAZING..." You said giggling in pure happiness.

"That sounds like me alright..." He said faking a smile.

"Listen, I need to go... Troy offered to take me home so he'd know where to pick me up this weekend. I better go before he disappears." You said pulling farther away from Jungkook and picking your things off the ground.

You walked away from him but decided to look back one more time, catching him still standing there watching you. "Did I say thank you?!..." You yell out the question happily.

"You sure did..."

"Okay... well, thanks again!" You said before finally turning your back to walk over to where Troy said he'd wait for you, leaving Jungkook still staring at your back as you slipped farther away from him.

He walks back to his car and slumped in his seat, hitting his forehead with an open palm after realizing what an idiot he's been. He clearly developed feelings for you but he shoved it aside like it meant nothing to him. Worse part was, he made you feel that you're just a project to him, nothing more.
