Mavis sighs as she walked into the halls of Baxter High, seeing Marcus look her in the eye, unabashed anger in his brown eyes and she glared right back at him. It has been a week since he was beat up by Eryx and he glared at Mavis any chance he could get and it was starting to piss her off so she walked right up to him, ignoring the stares she received from the nearby students.

"What the fuck is your problem, Marcus?" Mavis retorts as she crosses her arm. "You been acting like a dick all week."

"All you had to do was accept my fucking apology." He glared at her. "Instead you put the schools psychopath against me and had him attack me."

She gave him a irriated look. "Attack you? You tried to put your hands on me and he defended me and I don't owe you a got damn thing, Marcus." She told him as she gave him a glare. "The fact that you think that pathetic apology is enough to make up for the humiliation and bullshit is another offense in itself, in fact, I deserve another apology."

"I'm not some desperate hussy who desperate for your struggle love and the nerve of you to think that, I deserve that is an insult. I may have loved you but it damn sure wasn't enough to ignore your stupid bullshit no matter how much you tried to distract me with your" She leaned in closer with this next part. "pathetic little shrimp dick."

That really set him off as he tried to hit her, she grabbed him by the wrist and kicked him in the place where the sun doesn't shine all while twisting his arm, he didn't have the pleasure of surprise today. She wanted to prove that she didn't need a man to defend her. He fell to the ground clutching his balls im agony and while complaining that she sprained his arm. "I know it sucks getting your ass beat by a another man and then just the week after, by your ex girlfriend, in front of others. I know it must eat your pathetic ass alive."

She walked away, about to head to her first hour class when she saw Eryx stand behind her, his eyes glued to Marcus's frame. Eryx had a glare on his face but then a smirk replaced it as he chuckled. "I should beat your pathetic ass again." He mutters loudly as he then turned around and left the building.

Mavis sighs as she took the many steps to her first class, she was happy that she did what she did while at the same time annoyed that she had to do it. Marcus was always selfish, always thought about himself, never cared about Mavis thought about things.

Marcus always seemed to think that she'll be fine with everything he threw at her, whether it be constant pressure to put out, pressure to straighten her afro, wear less bright colorful clothes, be more conservative with her style, stop speaking in her native tongue when she got excited, stop being such a extrovert and ectera.

Mavis never felt like she had the opportunity to grow, and the more she refused what he wanted, the more abusive and sadistic he got, whether it be mentally, psychologically or even sometimes physical, it drove Mavis insane and she finally ended it with him, three months ago and he didn't take it well, he isolated her from their friend group, constantly called her from different numbers every time she blocked the previous one, just to taunt her into taking him back. It was so very hard to break the spirit of someone who always prided themselves on being a free spirit.

He has came close to it, but every single time, she would take a step back and took a deep breath and held her head up high. When he confronted her in the library that day, trying to force her like he did so many times before to take her back and when she refused, and he tightened his grip on her wrist almost painfully, She wanted to cry in frustration, he had the element of surprise and she wanted so much to punch him, hurt him for everything he ever did to her, but she was frozen.

But when Eryx Mason came to her rescue, defending her, defended her when no else would, she felt her heart soar, she thought Eryx would just let it happen, it had especially nothing to do with him whatsoever yet he made it his business, he stood up for her.

The way he beat and humiliated Marcus, made Mavis smile. The fact that he unapologetically stood up to the school's most beloved quarterback, just for her, was beautiful. She couldn't help but to gain a little crush on him, but like most crushes are, it will be unrequited, and she was fine with that.

Eryx Mason was a beautiful mystery. The attraction she felt for him was like a moth to an very explosive flame, he was beauty and chaos all wrapped into one boy, a mystery that Mavis wanted to tap into, and discover what's deep inside of him, body and mind.
