"Dearest Y/n!" Edward greeted as she opened the door. She returned the greeting with a brief nod, then patted out her dress. Her eyes flicked up at his then back down at his shoes multiple times. She felt her body go cold, then get warm and sweat over and over again.

Edward had invited Y/n to go out to a local pub for the night after all work had been finished for the day. It was a Friday, and Y/n knew it would be crowded. Edward had insisted that everything would be alright, and she could stick with him the whole time.

Y/n had agreed to go, she felt excited to go somewhere with Edward. She liked him a lot, he often came around after his work as an assistant to the well-respected medical doctor Henry Jekyll. They would often spend time together in Y/n's flat after her shifts as a housekeeper at other estates. She usually preferred staying at her home, just with him around, but didn't turn down anything when he suggested somewhere to go.

However, she did get shy and anxious around crowds of people she didn't know well and leaving the comforts of home.

Hot flashes soon overcame her again, and Edward seemed to notice this.

"Y/n?" He asked gently. "Everything will be alright."

"Y-yeah, I know, just...I feel so bad, and scared-" Y/n stammered out.

"Oh, dearest," He pulled her into a tender hug. She gladly accepted his comfort, still looking down at the floor, occasionally giving him a glance.

After they pulled away, Y/n walked over to the closet to retrieve her coat. Her hands trembled as she opened the closet doors, so Edward went over and got it for her, saying a small "here," as he handed it to her.

The two went out the door, Y/n making sure to lock it. She saw where he had prepared a carriage for them.

"I-i thought we would walk?" She questioned.

"I figured a ride there might be better." He replied. He leaned out a hand to her with a soft smile, and she took it.

They got into the carriage, Edward yelping a command for the driver to start taking them to their destination. At the crack of a whip, they were off.

Y/n gripped her dress as she stared at the floor once more. Her body felt warm at Edward's burning gaze.

"Has work been treating you well?" He asked suddenly in a gentle tone, trying to soothe her panic. Y/n gulped a bit as she searched for words to say. "I-it's been fine..." She replied in barely more than a whisper.

"That's good," Edward replied with a smile. "Remind me again what it is exactly that you do? I seem to have forgotten..." He let out a nervous laugh.

Y/n glanced up at him a few times, and slowly in soft-spoken words explained her profession to him, and gradually she felt herself begin to relax as the atmosphere began to feel more comfortable. Edwards's kind demeanor and small praises for her seemed to have calmed her nerves, and throughout most of the ride, she was feeling better, without a hint of worry.

Once they arrived and stepped out of the carriage, Y/n looked at the rather large building. She knew Edward was a regular here, but she hadn't even been in this part of town before. A small prick of anxiety shot through her once again once she thought about stepping inside. Then, Edward placed a hand on her shoulder. "Stick with me, and you'll be fine." He said. "It'll be tons of fun, I promise. And if you feel it's too much, don't hesitate to tell me, alright?" Y/n nodded. "Okay."

With a giddy smile, he excitedly led her inside the pub.

The whole place was lively, and as she had expected, it was full of people. It seemed that every table and barstool was full, and she saw the bartender hurriedly serving those at the counter, and waiters and waitresses serving those at the tables left and right. Despite all the commotion, nobody seemed distressed or uneasy, it was laughter and joy all around. She saw that towards her right there was a stage and small private booths where patrons were. There were cabaret dancers, having just as much fun as everyone else.

Edward was soon greeted by fellow patrons who seemed to know him well, Y/n felt like shying away until he gripped her hand, and brought her forward to introduce her to the patrons. "This is my dear friend, Y/n." He said happily. "It's her first time coming here."

Edward's whole mood seemed to brighten at the sight of her, which made Y/n feel a little more confident. "Welcome, Y/n dear!" Said a woman. "What brought you here?" Asked a man next to her. "Edward invited me," Y/n answered. "He's told me how fun this place is."

"Right he is about that." The woman said with a laugh. "I'm Lizzie, by the way, and this is William." She gestured to the man next to her.

Y/n smiled at them both, feeling warm that they had made her feel so welcome here. "Oh, come! The main show is about to start! Your favorite booth is available just for you, Mr.Hyde. Oh, you'll love it, Ms.Y/n!" Lizzie squealed excitedly, leading the two of them into one of the booths that overlooked the stage.

Edward and Y/n sat down, both smiling widely. As Lizzie and William left to their own seats, Edward began to speak. "I-it's not too much, is it?" He asked hesitantly. "No!" She burst out. "I mean- No, it's not. I'm having a great time." She had a warm smile, which he gave in return.

Edward placed an order for two drinks just as the main show began to start. A lineup of dancers appeared, and lively music started up. Patrons, Edward included, sang and clapped along, and Y/n giggled at the sight. The dancers were great as well, they all had the joyful energy that seemed to flow throughout the establishment too.

Edward and Y/n clinked their glasses together, and suddenly then they heard louder cheering as the dancers invited patrons onto the stage to dance along with them. One of them motioned for the two of them to come on. Edward looked to Y/n for permission, and she then grabbed his hands and the both of them were soon on the stage with their hands locked together.

Edward smirked, then got into a rhythmic motion with the music and the two of them swirled around together on the stage, and he then held up both their arms and twirled her around. The two of them laughed and continued to waltz around the stage.

Helloo! sorry for a small delay, I know the request was 'shy' reader and I kinda made it social anxiety reader instead *nervous sweat* but anyway, this is a 2 parter! whenever its a henry/edward chapter there's usually a lot of stuff I plan for and cant fit it into one chapter, so stay tuned. This was also based slightly off a situation I was in a few weeks ago lol. I'm pretty anxious in big groups and I was invited to an event and had a huge panic attack over it, but my friend assured me everything would be ok and it turned out really fun in the end!
