kali's pov:

it's been a decade since azi and i embarked on our journey together, and i genuinely couldn't envision a more fulfilling path.

life has been exceptionally rewarding; i'm utterly enamored with its richness.

four years ago, azi and i exchanged vows, and our wedding was a sight to behold.

the atmosphere was suffused with an abundance of love and support from all quarters, a sentiment that continues to endure to this day.

our honeymoon unfolded in italy, a destination both azi and i had eagerly anticipated visiting.

the experience was truly enchanting, captivating us with its charm. initially planned for a week's duration, our stay extended to two weeks, such was the allure of the country.

i experienced the pinnacle of enjoyment during our time there.

now, returning to the present day, i was just getting off work and heading back to our house.

three months ago, azi and i purchased our first home together. prior to that, we resided in an apartment, a place we acquired when we first got engaged—a memory distant in time.

our new abode exuded beauty. we're still acclimating to the spaciousness—a novelty for me. it's serene here, a sanctuary of peace and tranquility.

i pulled up in our driveway, spotting azi's car and smiling to myself. i hadn't seen him since last night; he leaves for work earlier than i do.

unlocking the door, i made my way inside, slipping off my shoes and placing my bag on the counter. after hanging up my keys, i ventured into the living room, calling out for azi.

strange, he's usually down here when i get home.

ascending he stairs, i opened our bedroom door to find him lying in bed, fast asleep.

he must've had a long day.

climbing into bed beside him, i sighed, anticipating our usual post-work hangout. however, i settled for quietly scrolling through my phone while waiting for him to wake up.

after a few minutes, he stirred in his sleep. smiling, i set my phone aside, eager for his attention.

"hi, baby." i murmured, pushing his locs away from his face.

"hi, sweetheart." he responded, leaning in for a kiss.

azi enveloped me in his embrace, his hands tracing soothing patterns on my back. i basked in his presence, overwhelmed with gratitude for his love.

"i missed you." he confessed.

"i missed you more." i countered, savoring the moment.

resting my head on his chest, i inhaled his familiar scent.

"how was work?" he inquired.

"it was good, the usual. teaching children." i say. "how was work for you?"

"got some new workers today; just going over the basics with them." azi answered. "any of your kids cause trouble today?"

"no." i chuckled, shaking my head.

teaching fifth graders was always eventful; they were a spirited bunch. despite the occasional chaos, i cherished them dearly.

"though tomorrow, there might be some fighting going on." i mentioned.

"why would fifth graders be fighting?"azi questioned, his tone serious.

"there's this couple and the boy dates the girl knowing his friend likes her. the friend is mad and wants to fight, at least that's what i heard during free time." i explained.

"could you record?" azi suggested, a mischievous glint in his eye.

"absolutely not!" i laughed. "i'd lose my job."

"i could take care of you." he teased

"you already do." i grinned, relishing his affection. "i love you so much, azi."

"i love you more, kali." he whispered, and i closed my eyes, content in his embrace.

walking up to voices downstairs, i assumed it was azi's friends. he had mentioned inviting them over to showcase our new home.

i untangled myself from the comforter and made my way downstairs. sure enough, azi and his friends were gathered in the living room, their presence filling the space with warmth.

i relished these moments when azi's friends visited; he appeared genuinely happy, his authentic self shining through.

"hey, sis." tyre greeted me warmly.

"hey, ty." i replied, settling into azi's lap.

he planted a kiss on my neck, eliciting a blush.

"and hello to you too, kali." jahmere quipped, rolling his eyes playfully.

jahmere and i had a playful rivalry; he insisted azi was 'his man.' out of the trio, azi and jahmere spent the most time together—a testament to their close bond.

"we're heading out for bowling." azi informed me.

"you're more than welcome to join." tyre offered.

"no, it's fine; i'll let you boys have your time." i declined. "plus, i want to start decorating down here."

after a pleasant ten minutes, the boys prepared to leave. tyre and jahmere bid their farewells, leaving azi and i behind.

"your sure you don't want to come?" azi asked, his gaze searching mine.

"i'm sure, baby. i have some tasks to attend to." i assured him.

he kissed me tenderly. "i won't be long, maybe two hours max.

i nodded. "enjoy, az. you deserve it. must make sure to come home at a reasonable hour for some sleep."

"i will." he promised, planting one final kiss before departing.

"i love you!" he called out.

"i love you more." i replied, watching him leave with a smile.
