LAURICE
"Hi, long time no see," I greeted Rio and sat down while nodding at the waiter that pulled a chair for me.
"So, let me get this straight, you want me to be a part of Royal Hands?" He asked.
"As the co-head for legal affairs, you'll be working with Chris naman. But you're most likely going to handle domestic cases once Chris returns to Great Emerald after ng PhD n'ya rito," I said and took out a folder from my bag. "Chris drafted this contract and discussed it with me but if you want anything about it changed, you can talk to him naman. You don't have to sign it immediately."
"I'll review it before signing but what is the gist of what I'll do in Royal Hands aside from handling pro bono cases?"
I was about to tell him pero the menu was handed to us and we ordered before I started. In-explain ko na since non-profit organization nga, mostly pro-bono cases ang iha-handle nila. He could also get himself a few private clients unless he's exclusive to the International Court as a lawyer, which may also result in him being unable to be the co-head for the organization. Although I'm planning to also talk to other legal offices in the country to refer cases to Royal Hands once the Legal Department of the organization is established publicly.
Actually lahat ng mga sinasabi ko, mga sinabi lang ni Chris sa akin.
"If you're worrying about my exclusivity, I'll be free to be the co-head since malapit na rin matapos yung contract ko sa IC."
"You're not going to earn much in the organization," I pointed out to him.
That was the truth. I, Vannie, Hadley, Tori, Jessie, and Charlotte don't earn from the organization. It's more of us bringing money to the organization and the sponsors and donors.
For the original headquarters and branch of Royal Hands which is here in Great Crystal, the organization is officially listed under my name and I fund it with all the money I get from the public's tax since this project is for the public. That's also what the other girls do except for Jessie who funds her branch with her earnings from show business and brands that she owns.
And as much as I am glad to have help in my org, I know that people working my org need compensation. Some are good with a roof over their head and food while working and some, a lot, need money.
I worked with Rio for a short time. He's really efficient. Ang daming cases na naa-appoint sa kan'ya that he's won. I'm actually trying to be as efficient as him.
"It's okay, I already have plans to work in a firm and I can negotiate my contract with them for this. Maybe you'll also get yourself a firm that's willing to have their lawyers work on some of the department's cases. Kailan ba 'to?"
"It's a plan with no date, at least what Chris knows," I chuckled.
"You have a plan when to open this department?"
"Yeah, after ng entrance exam ni Chris for his law masters." Because Chris was considerate in making me talk about it after my boards.
When our food arrived, we just ate while talking about what we were going to do in the org. Funny, he said na later daw n'ya babasahin pero he's opening the folder from time to time and asking.
After my meeting with Rio, I went off to visit the catering company that will serve food for my birthday. Philip is still in town and he wanted to tag along with me.
"That is a lot of food," I sighed. "And there's more."
"To make things difficult, everything tastes good."
I looked at Philip and laughed at what he said. Buti na lang he tagged along kasi I'd either take longer here or get back another day. Despite being served two or three bites of the food, I felt full. Kaya we're seated in the VIP room of the place, waiting until we were good to eat again since kaunti na lang naman na.
