Chapter 11 | The last days in the forest

1 week later ....

Yibo sat in his werewolf form with his head bowed on the huge boulder. With a sad look he watched the magnificent landscape before him. Then he raised his head when he heard the sound of footsteps. He turned his head back and saw Zhan.

Zhan stopped when the white wolf looked at him.

"I thought I'd find you here. I came here because I didn't want you to be alone...especially not here." - said Zhan and then started walking towards the wolf again.

Zhan sat down next to the wolf and they continued to watch the sunset in silence. After a few moments, Zhan's gaze wandered to the trees and watched as the sudden soft winds moved and tore the leaves from the branches, and they slowly fell to the ground.

"Hm. .. Autumn is indeed the most beautiful and unique season. Autumn shows us how beautiful it is to let go of things and memories in the most beautiful way, especially those that are only associated with pain." said Zhan.

The wolf watched him with interest. Then, as soon as Zhan was silent, the wolf got up and, a little sheepishly, lay down behind Zhan, hugging him from behind. The wolf then lowered his head sadly into Zhan's lap.

Zhan said nothing, but smiled at this. He put his hand on the wolf's head and began to stroke its head softly while the wolf rested quietly. Zhan felt that Yibo needed this peaceful time, so he didn't bother him with his questions. He preferred to sit quietly and enjoy the peaceful moment.

Later, before they made their way back to the cabin, Zhan bent down and placed a flower in front of a rock by the ravine. Then he stood up and walked away with the white wolf.

Early the next evening...

After Zhan had packed all his bags in the trunk of his car, he locked the door to the main entrance of the cabin and walked back to his car. He opened the car door, but before he got in, he took one last look at the cabin.

Zhan thought back on the memories of the past few weeks, both the good and the bad. Although his rest didn't turn out as Zhan had planned, he didn't really regret it now. He thought of this adventure as autumn; change is a part of life, and autumn is the most excellent and beautiful example of that.

Despite the bad memories, Zhan didn't regret coming here, because here he finally found what his heart really longed for; it wasn't rest, but a companion and true love like Yibo. For that, Zhan will forever be grateful that he listened to his father and took his advice.

While Zhan was preparing to leave, Yibo took a walk through the forest in his wolf form, then finally stopped at the cliff. He glanced at the moon and howled loudly.

Yibo's heart still ached from the loss of his brother. But he knew that his brother had finally got what he wanted; the forest would be his kingdom forever. What Yunxi had truly longed for from the beginning, had finally been achieved, ... and that gave Yibo's heart a sense of peace.

It made it easier for him to leave the forest and finally put the past behind him. Yibo could now finally start a whole new life in a new place and where he would not be alone, because from now on Zhan would be there with him. 

Therefore, he quickly ran back to the cabin. Until it was too late. when the wolf got to the house, he saw that Zhan was already standing by the car.Zhan turned towards him and just greeted him with a friendly smile. the wolf walked to the car, and there yibo took on his human form again.

"I heard you howl. ... Are you all right, Yibo?" asked Zhan.

"Yes." - replied Yibo. - "Everything is all right now. We can go."

Together they got into the car and headed for the main road that would take them back to the city, which was now not only Zhan's home but Yibo's as well.

The beauty of letting go and change was something that not only Zhan but that autumn had taught Yibo.
