SADIE GAVE HER ALL with every firework she threw. Memories of her and Billy swirled throughout her brain, causing her to get even more angry. This Mind-Flayer had stolen the Billy she knew away from her, and he was going to pay.
"Shit! Sadie, Lucas, we're out!" Will yelled, the panic obvious in his voice.
"Fuck!" Sadie yelled, looking around for something, anything, that could help them— help Billy.
As everyone else ran out of fireworks, the beautiful colors that surrounded the mall were fading, Sadie's heart sank as she watched her boyfriend, Billy, stand over Eleven.
Sadie and the boys ran over to the railing as Billy stood up, the Mind-Flayer letting out a loud roar. As one of the slimy arms shot out to get Eleven, Billy blocked it, yelling out.
"Holy shit. He's... he's saving her.." Lucas mumbled in awe.
This obviously pissed off the Mind-Flayer, the creature shooting out two more arms, and digging them into his sides.
"Billy!" Sadie screamed, running to get to him.
"No, Sadie!" Lucas yelled.
"Sades!" Will yelled along.
Billy yelled out, his arms out, asking for war from the Mind-Flayer. And just as Sadie made her way down the steps to where her boyfriend was, the Mind- Flayer dug a claw straight into his chest.
"No! No! Billy!" Sadie screamed as his body fell, running to it.
She didn't care if the Mind-Flayer was right there. She didn't care at all. She just wanted to keep the promise she told him at the Sauna.
"Billy.. I swear to you, I will get you back. And we can go to.. Cali, just like you want."
Her own words hung in her head as she fell to her knees in front of a choking Billy.
"No.. Billy, you're going to be okay, alright?" She told him, tears slipping down her rosy cheeks.
He brought his hand to her face, swiping her tears with his thumb, "I love you, Sades."
She leaned into his touch, more tears falling. "I love you."
Their moment was interrupted as the Mind- Flayer suddenly screamed out in pain, and dying.
They had closed the gate.
Max walked over to where Sadie and Billy were, falling to her knees and began shaking him. "Billy.. Billy, Billy, get up, please. Billy, get up, please. Please!" She begged him.
He choked out, "I'm.. sorry."
"No..." Sadie whispered as her heart broke in her chest. He took his final breath, looking into Sadie's eyes.
"Billy..." She shook him again. "Billy, wake up. Billy, get up. Please, Billy..."
Sadie's heart was broken. She just cried, leaning her head down onto his chest, and sobbing.
"Billy!" Max sobbed, as Eleven took her into her arms.
Mike came up to Sadie, taking her into his arms. She grasped his shirt like it wss the only thing keeping her afloat, and in all honesty, it probably was.
"I'm so sorry, S. So so, sorry." He rubbed her back as his sister sobbed.

Sadie sat in the back of the ambulance, her head resting on Robin's shoulder.
"He's really dead." She whispered to herself in disbelief.
"I'm sorry, Sades." Nancy said from across from her, grabbing her sister's hand.
Sadie looked around as one thought wouldn't get out of her head.
One summer really can change everything.

hey besties!!! i hope you enjoyed this lil chapter. i just wanted to show the events of '85 before we really get into this story, so you can have a idea of the trauma and sadness she goes through in this book. don't worry, next chapter is the start of season 4! i love you all!
