He brought the light upon the holy word,

Greek thought and great thinkers he added to,

The lines between faith and reason he blurred,

He drew his genius from nothing brand new:

He said so much yet gave no great long talks,

Tempted by the devil, a prostitute,

Of a large frame, he was called the dumb ox,

Through books he spoke, genius is never mute:

Oh, of His great goodness what did you say,

When divine light instilled such emotion,

You said all that you wrote was less than hay,

Compared to the grandeur of His ocean:

It is to you whom I owe this great debt,

For my faith, this I will never forget.
