His old birthplace remains unknown to us,

And less is known about his family,

Except they may have been quite prosperous,

Regardless he chose the monastery:

England to Germany he went with faith,

He found a tree that the pagans prayed to,

He chopped it down as if he was God's lathe,

And from its stump many converts now grew:

Onwards to lands still further in the north,

Onto holland a mission he chartered,

And towards their own death fifty-three set forth,

As bandits made those holy men martyred:

The story of your courage taught me much,

Above all else, I will not trust the Dutch.
