His life was ruled by that great sin of greed,

His father was a man of wealth and means;

But then one day he found his holy creed,

Upon his humble heart the poor man leans:

He lived for the good of those less than he,

And dad was mad when he said he'd leaven,

Those crushed under the weight of their city

His one true father reigned up in heaven:

The people came from high and low for him;

His love became ever growing in length,

That even all the beasts were of his kin;

His soul was richer than any known bank:
_____________________________

Because of him, I beg and give and pray,

And through his name, the poor find fame today.
