To take his father's seat was his future,

But he chose to sit next to Christ, his lord;

He joined that holy order of the poor,

And in the Maghreb he would be their sword:

But he washed up on Sicilian shores,

Then one day he spoke with such intellect,

Throughout Europe, his work was so much more,

He even gained from a fish his respect:

In some sense he became larger than life,

And may have been a man of larger size,

So when a monk lost something in great strife,

His prayers were answered by a Saint so wise:

You did not let a shipwreck wreck your fate,

I thought I sank, I hope I'm not too late.
