To find God, he wandered the barren sands;

Once surrounded by his Christian Brothers,

Now only the dunes populate this land;

They alone hear his prayers, and no others:

But then one day a man came seeking grace,

Instead he saw a figure clothed in hair;

In fear, he fled before he saw a face,

But a soft voice brought him back to his lair:

That night, both spent in holy devotion,

But by sunrise, death sauntered to the door,

To fish the monk from the desert ocean,

For the youth's work lay at brethren's shore:

Seven decades God was your oasis;

Of those two men, which should I trade places?
