19 - The Return

Hiro shakily moved his hand to the doorknob. He didn't want to go back to the school, but he couldn't avoid it forever. Besides, what were the chances he'd meet her?

He slowly shut the door behind him, exiting the false comfort that was his house. He had a crazy woman in love with him, who also happened to be one of the most powerful teenagers in this whole city. And possibly a second in his girlfriend.

Yes, everything was fine.

Hiro walked towards school, passing various different shops. As he got closer to the end of the street, he suddenly stopped as he thought of something. Sometimes he'd coincidentally meet Akari on the way to school.

And it was always there.

He was probably overthinking things, but he couldn't help but check. He took a back alley, taking a route behind to reach the street which crossed the shopping one. Glancing down the street, he saw Akari waiting there, waiting to ambush him.

No, that wasn't so strange. She just wanted to spend some time with him, that's all. That was definitely it.

Hiro almost walked towards her, but he couldn't stop himself from shaking, so instead opted to ignore her and move on. He apologized in his heart, but he couldn't bring himself to approach her for a multitude of reasons.

"Hiro, you okay?" Sora worriedly asked as Hiro sat at his desk. "You were absent yesterday, and you look really tired today."

"Yeah...I'm fine." Hiro replied with a lie. "Just feeling a little sick."

"Okay." Sora nodded, though he couldn't help but feel something was off.

Class passed by as usual, which Hiro was thankful for. Once the class finished, he headed over to his next one.

"Himitsu." A voice greeted.

He suddenly turned around, before calming down as he noticed it was Mei.

"Hello Vice President." He nodded.

"Are you alright? You didn't come yesterday." She stated.

"I fell sick." Hiro lied once more, hating himself for it.

"Are you feeling better?" She asked.

"Yes, I am." Hiro nodded. Another lie.

"Good." Mei nodded. "Since you were absent yesterday, please come today to the Student Council after school."

Before he could respond, he tended up as he felt someone wrap their arms around his own. He glanced to the side, forcing himself to relax as he saw Akari hanging onto his arm.

"Akari...?" He asked in confusion. Akari smiled towards Mei, but behind it laid something much more threatening. "What are you..?"

"Hello there!" She smiled at Mei threateningly. "Is there something you needed from my boyfriend?"

"Hello there...Akari." The slightest of twitches appeared in Mei's eye. "How are you?"

"Oh, I'm doing absolutely amazing." She was lying. Both Hiro and Mei noticed something was off, but neither of them asked.

"Well then." Mei turned back to Hiro. "I will be seeing you after school today."

She then turned and walked off. Akari's grip on his arm tightened, making him wince. This was getting uncomfortable.
