Chapter : It'll be different this time around
NK gently set the unconscious payal against the Tree trunk. His eyes continued to stray back to the empty spot where Khushi and Arnav had jumped into the time portal before, and as much as he tried to calm himself, he couldn't help but be worried about his apprentice and her ghost.
"I hope you know what you're doing…" NK thought silently as the night air blew against them again. From the corner of his eye he saw payal shiver slightly, and sighing, he took his jacket off and gently covered her with it. "We're going to be here for a pretty long time…"
Payal had no idea where she was. One moment she was trying to find Khushi, and then she saw Aditya… then… then she couldn't remember where she was or what she was doing! She shivered, feeling wind blowing against her face, was she outside? Slowly she opened her eyes to find someone's jacket covering her. Looking around, she let out a scream when her eyes landed on a dark haired man.
NK immediately fell over, scrambling back onto his back; he let out a relieved sigh, seeing that the person who screamed was Khushi's friend. Standing up, he brushed the dirt off his pants and walked up, offering a hand. Payal backed off,
"G-Get away!" She shrieked the jacket that was covering her fell off and now her body had begun to shiver from the wind. NK groaned, running his hand through his hair,
"This is why I chose to be a mentor!" NK groaned silently. Sighing, he dropped his hand and sat back down, careful of his distance,
"Look, I know this is going to sound weird… but I'm a friend of Khushi's. She's… well let's just say she's kind of far away right now, but she told me to try and take care of you." NK explained as best as he could, payal, her teeth now chattering did not reply; only shrinking further from him. NK sighed, he picked up his jacket and handed it to her, payal looked at it fearfully,
"It's going to get colder… you're going to want this, I don't need khu coming to kill me when she gets back," NK said gently, grateful when she took his jacket and wrapping it around her,
"Wh-What about you," payal asked quietly, NK shrugged, leaning against the tree again,
"I've been in worse situations," he shrugged.
"No listen, stay here, I'll go get him." Arnav said urgently. Both mediator and ghost had stood up, ready to take on the shifter, only for Arnav to pull Khushi back.
"What are you talking about? He'll kill you the first chance he gets!" Khushi argued harshly, Arnav scoffed,
"Well he's not trying to kill me now is he?" Arnav rolled his eyes, Khushi ignored him,
