Chapter 9

"Hey, Seb" Florence weakly greeted her friend. Despite Aubrey's insistence and her frustration, she didn't want to take it out on Sebastian. The boy grins back up at her with a confused look but waves back nonetheless,

"What's up Flo?"

Florence shakes her head exasperatedly with a sigh and gestures, "I...I don't know why Aubrey is doing this. Trying to.."

Sebastian immediately cuts her off with a knowing look, "Set us up?"

Florence makes eye contact with the boy with a surprised stare, "You know?" Sebastian just snorts at that before responding,

"She's embarrassingly obvious about it." Florence hums a sound of agreement.

"Yeah..listen. It's not that I don't find you attractive, but I don't see you like that. You're my friend, Seb" Florence softly says while fiddling with the rings on her fingers. Sebastian shoots the blonde a reassuring look,

"Flo, calm down. It's okay." Sebastian replies before scratching the back of his head, "I actually don't see you like that either"

For some reason, Florence wasn't expecting that response either. Not to sound egocentric but Aubrey's words were getting to her that although she was wrong about her, Aubrey may be right about Sebastian harboring those feelings. Nonetheless, she felt a huge weight come off of her shoulders at his words and couldn't help the next words to come out of her mouth,

"Wait..really?"

Sebastian nods with a shrug,  "Yeah. I like being your friend. You're like the only one I can banter with and I love that about our friendship." The two share an identical smile as they both share the same feeling about their special friendship.

"Thank God." Florence couldn't help but breathe out. Sebastian laughed in response before dropping a surprise bomb,

"Plus..I'm kind of seeing someone anyway."

Florence's mouth drops before perking up in excitement, "Wait..really? How come you haven't said anything? Told anyone?" The blonde steps forward closer to Sebastian with curious eyes.

Sebastian bites his lip and that's when the blonde realized just how nervous the guy was. Florence sends him a silent look of encouragement and waits patiently. Sebastian seemed to gather his emotions before shooting a small smile,

"Well..I'm dating a guy" Sebastian confesses quietly before looking around to make sure no one around them had heard him. Luckily, everyone was too intoxicated or absorbed with conversations around them. Let alone, the blaring music that blocked any other noise from hearing the nervous boy.

"Wait..what?" Florence questioned, tilting her head, unsure if she heard him correctly. There was no disgusted tone indicated but a genuine wonder in her voice.

"Yeah, he's actually right there." Sebastian pointed behind him to a tall and fit blonde laughing besides two girls that Florence had recognized from some of Sebastian's Instagram posts.

"Oh" Was all Florence said.

"You're not disgusted by that, are you?" Sebastian slowly asks with a worried gaze. Florence's eyes widened before she shook her head rapidly,

"No, no! Of course not. I just didn't know you were.." The blonde trailed making Sebastian nod in understanding before replying back,

"Yeah, I don't exactly announce that kind of thing. I've been keeping it on a down low for him and I's sake because Aubrey can be..too much sometimes."
