a week had passed since your father was finally taken away. it had also been a week since you found out that kaoru had found out about it, however, the two of you still didn't talk.

not about it nor to each other.

and to make matters worse, just yesterday you saw her walking on the streets, arms linked, with a group of girls you'd known since middle school. they seemed like nice people to you, but you weren't really friends with them. you didn't even know that kaoru was friends with them.

she seemed to be doing well without you.

but now, you were curling in a ball in the corner of your house in silence. and even though the house was usually quiet, it was depressing to think about how once you moved out on campus to uau— which you had finally decided to go to— the house would finally be vacant.

you were about to be completely drowned in the silence until you heard a knock at the door.

thinking that katsuki had came back to your home to see you put a pep in your step and you went to open the door a bit quicker than usual.

you were about to greet him when you saw her. it was the same hair texture, but instead of blonde, it was brown.

you paused for a minute thinking about what to do when you finally decided to open the door a bit wider, allowing her to come inside.

she did, and you closed the door behind you. but before you two could find yourselves out of the doorway, kaoru turned back around and wrapped you in a hug.

"i'm sorry." was the only thing that was on her mind.

"i'm sorry." was the one thing she knew she had to say.

"i'm sorry." was what finally came out of her mouth in a soft whisper. over and over again.

and as she stood there, mumbling apologetic words, she couldn't help but be upset with herself.

had she explained her feelings and finally accepted the truth of who she truly was earlier, maybe she wouldn't have lost her best friend and would've been able to support her in her darkest moment.

so for now, all she could do was mumble her best apologies.

once you noticed that the grip of her hug started to relax a little, you led kaoru to the couch where the two of you talked.

you apologized to her for slapping her like that in broad daylight.

and she finally explained to you what was going on.

she said that she was jealous of katsuki and how your attention was always on him. she said that there were some feelings towards you, but even after countless nights of lying awake, she didn't know if they were romantic or not. so out of frustration, she blew up on you thinking it would make her feel better. however, it didn't.

kaoru finally explained that she didn't know exactly what she was but she does know that she doesn't like labels and she never will.

after kaoru explained that to you, you couldn't help but wrap her in the biggest hug ever. "thank you for telling me. i'm so proud of you." you mumbled.

it wasn't until then that kaoru noticed that she was in fact crying. she finally felt acknowledged.

the rest of the evening, the girl cried in your arms and laughed at your horrible jokes and attempts to make her feel better.

from that point on, you knew your friendship would never be the same again and that's perfectly fine because it would definitely be stronger than it was before.

the next day, you woke up on the couch, apparently alone

the next day, you woke up on the couch, apparently alone.

you checked your phone and saw that kaoru had left you a text message around 6am, saying that her mom needed her at home so she left.

you replied to her back and got up getting ready for the day.

you still never got to keep your promise with katsuki, so here he was at your doorstep, spending the day with you like promised.

he first took you to a dessert shop and what better place to take you to then the dessert shop you work at.

when you opened the door, the bell rang and an employee was at the counter, however their back was turned, fixing something up, but they still said the usual greeting.

'i guess they hired an employee while i was on my leave.'

however, you were thinking about quitting anyway. you now had about 12 million to your name and the only reason you got a job in the first place was to pay for college tuition and rent.

however, you weren't able to access the money until you were 18 and your 18th birthday wasn't until a couple of months.

you two sat at a booth and sat across from each other when the waiter walked up to your table. you watched as katsuki's face scrunched up once he got a clear view of the waiter.

you turned to the waiter and your face was in shock.

you watched as he bowed and introduced himself. "y/n, bakugo, haven't seen you guys in a while. i'm your waiter, enkai tamura and i hope you're having a great day. how may i serve you today?"
