How long has it been? A week. A full seven days. Every moment I spent waking, waiting, preparing, is for this moment

The moonless night marked the start of our plan. I stroll past the school gate, passing by the unconscious nightguard laying on his table with his spilled coffee

The cold breeze hit my face like a frozen wall of winter's desolation. Shivering, I pulled up the hood of my coat while my eye scanned for any magic activities out of place

"This place is as empty as a Karen's brain" I shine the flashlight through the silent hallway. Darkness greet me back, induitably void of presence "No offense to you, school"

"Master, we should split up to cover more ground. I'll go to the left while you check the right" Jason whispered through the mental link between us "that way I can support you more effectively....or something"

"We both know you'll be three miles gone the moment we see an enemy Servant"

"Well it's not my fault the wise Shinji Matou suddenly decide to patrol the school tonight. It's the Master's responsibility if they actively tryna get themselves killed, you know"

I have half a mind to use a Command Seal if it means Jason can shut up, but decide his chattering simply wasn't worth the effort.

"My crow familiars picked out two different Servants moving in the perimeter this evening, so I have to get Shirou go home early and take care of matters myself" I grumbled. Otherwise, my effort for him to have a normal life will be in vain

Did I say a week of planning? More like a month of active preparation and almost a lifetime of foresight just to get to this moment

I hover my flashlight to the end of the corridor  to see nothing. At night, Homomura academy is completely lightless due to its old history of construction.

A sound nearby caught my attention. It is the clanging of metal. Swords and spear, echoing with shortening intermittence across the empty hallway. And it is coming from out there in the courtyard, where my Mind's Eye can see two silhouettes dancing in battle

Red and blue, black and white and red. Archer and Lancer is locked in combat under the moonlight

Despite Rider's protests, my foot started moving in its direction

_________

Every strike rang true. Thought Archer as he bent over backward, watching as the spear's tip slice the wind above his face. His enemy allowed the momentum for a second strike aim at his lower section- one that he blocked with an off-angle parry from Kanshou, simultaneously kicking at his opponent's face

"Tch" Lancer clicked his tongue. - obviously displeased. They disengaged to an impasse half a yard away from each other

"You're pretty good, sword guy. Reminds me of that one time I fought McRoich" He tap his crimson spear against the ground "Ay, I thought there won't be that many worthy figures in this war, but my expectations kept getting shattered!"

Archer said nothing, getting into a defensive stance

He can't retreat right now. Unlike the many situations he'd found himself in the past life, Archer's battle isn't a solo one. He has a Master to protect, one being forced into a duel of her own right now

It has been a regular patrol during the night when Rin told him to check out Homomura highschool. They both got intel that one of the Masters are present and got her in hope of finding about their traces. Of course, both weren't prepared to be ambushed
