(tw: drugging)Conversations between you and him were pleasantly smooth, which unfortunately made the silences all the more awkward.
To your surprise, he wasn't against the idea of welcoming you into his home. In fact he was very eager. It was kind of uncanny, really. As soon as you suggested it his face started beaming, and he was fumbling excitedly with his hands to look for his car keys.
His car. It didn't take you long to get to it as he had parked it not too far away from the shop, and when you first saw it your immediate impulse was to turn around and leave. It was a white van with a few bumps and bits of scrapped paint here and there. And who's stupid enough to get into a creepy van with a stranger they'd just met? This guy could be the next Ted Bundy for all you knew.
But before you could give into your thoughts, the man had opened the door for you, and those pretty blue eyes of his which were ever so filled with hope and adoration were begging for you not to turn him down. So apparently, you. You were stupid enough.
You'd taken all the courage you had and sat in the passengers seat, agreeing for him to drive you to his place despite the butterflies in your stomach.
Well, 'agreeing' might be the wrong word. You did suggest it, after all.
You looked over at the man who was now driving, his gaze directed at the road, and that same giddy smile still on his face. It had been quiet for a while, and while he didn't seem to have any issues with the lack of conversation, you still felt the need to talk, if only to calm your racing heartbeat.
To be honest, it had been quite a while since you'd been on a date with...anyone, really. You had no idea how to act or what was or wasn't appropriate. You coughed, getting his attention.
"Hey, so... What's- what's your favorite flower?" you ask, cursing yourself for stuttering, but thinking it'd be a good icebreaker given the place you two just met.
He looks up for a second as if in thought.
"Mhm...I think lily of the valley is pretty but I don't think you're supposed to touch those."
"Oh!" you grin up at him. The lady in the flower shop had told you about those, about how she used to have a garden full of them, which now gave you an excuse to Infodump.
"As far as I'm aware it's okay to touch them, but when you eat them that's when they get dangerous. Ah- Did you know that in pre-modern england the plant was also called 'Apollinaris' after a legend that it was discovered by Apollo?"
The man chuckled, "No, I didn't. That's interesting though. Do you know a lot about flowers?"
"A lot is a bit of an overstatement, but I know my fair share. Do you want to know what lily-of-the-valley's signify?"
The stranger nodded, and you went on, not noticing the way his hand laid itself softly onto your thigh.
"They're said to signify the return of lost happiness- of healing from past experiences and learning to love again-"
He squeezed your thigh gently, flashing you a lovestruck grin that held something else behind it. You started playing with your clothes again, a blush spreading across your face.
"O-or at least that's what I've heard..." you trail off, thinking of other questions to ask the stranger.
Stranger.
That's a question I should've asked before.
"Hey uhm, I'm sorry but what was your name again?"
