A few days later the Quartet still hadn't figured out who stole the diary. Hermione had gone to the library to do some more research while Jacob and Harry went to their Quidditch game against Hufflepuff.
"Alright listen up" Oliver said. "We play our game Hufflepuff doesn't stand a chance. We're stronger quicker and smarter."
"And not to mention they're dead scared that Harry and Jacob will Petrify them if they fly anywhere near them" Fred said.
"Shut up Fred" Jacob groaned as the team made their way to the field and saw McGonagall walking up to them.
"This match has been canceled" She said.
"They can't canceled Quidditch" Oliver said.
"Silence Wood, you and your teammates will go to Gryffindor tower immediately." McGonagall said sternly as the rest of the team left. "Potter, Archer, you two and I will find Mr. Weasley. There's something the three of you have to see"
When they found Ron, McGonagall lead the boys to the Hospital Wing.
"I warn you. This could be a wee bit of a shock" McGonagall said.
Jacob saw confused at first he just a assumed another student was Petrified....... And unfortunately he was right, but nothing could've prepared him for what he saw. The student that was Petrified was..........

"Hermione....." Jacob said in a shocked and sad tone of voice. The boys had saw that Hermione was laying in bed completely Petrified.
"She was found near the Library...... Along with this" McGonagall said holding up a mirror. "Does it mean anything to you?"
"No...." Harry said in a sad tone of voice.
Jacob then walked up Hermione's side and held the hand she was raising up to hold the mirror. Her hand felt so cold.
"This is all my fault......" Jacob said starting to cry.
"What are you talking about Mr. Archer?" McGonagall asked.
"I swore with my life that I would protect her" Jacob choked. "And I failed"
McGonagall then escorted Ron and Harry out of the hospital giving Jacob some time alone with Hermione. Jacob leaned forward making his forhead touch her cold hand.
"I'm sorry Hermione" Jacob whispered into her hand. "I'm sorry I wasn't there to protect you. I'm sorry I broke my promise. I should've gone with you the library"
Jacob started to cry more feeling the pain of the heartbreak he suffering. His head then shot up as his eyes glowed bright purple.
