Afew days had past since the boys discovered the truth that Hagrid was innocent. Unfortunately they were back to square one on figuring out who actually did open the Chamber.
They went to the hospital to visit Hermione who was unfortunately still petrified.

"Wish you here Hermione" Jacob said sitting on the left side on her bed. "We need you......I need you"

Jacob the held Hermione's left hand and gently rubbed it with his thumb. Then Jacob noticed a crumbled up peice of paper in her had. He then uncrumbled it and saw what look to be a page from a book.

"What's that?" Ron asked.

"Guys, this is why Hermione went to the library the day she was attacked" Jacob said. "Of the many fearsome beasts that roam our land, none is more deadly than the Basilisk. Capable for living for hundreds of years, instant death awaits any who meet this giant serpent's eye. Spiders flee before it. Don't you lads see? This is it the Monster is a giant snake. That's why Harry and I can hear it speak!"

"But if it kills by looking people in the eye, why is it no one's dead?" Ron asked as Harry looked at the window and saw his reflection.

"Because no one did look it in the eye" Harry said "Not directly anyway"

"What do you mean?" Ron asked.

"Of course, Harry you're brilliant!" Jacob said before walking over to Colin's bed "Colin must've saw it when he looked through his camera lense, Justin must've seen the Basilisk through Headless Nick and Nick got the full blast, but he's a ghost so he can't die again. And Hermione....... Hermione had that mirror on her the day she was attacked. She must've figured it out and used the mirror to look around corners to protect herself"

"What about Mrs. Norris?" Ron asked "I'm pretty sure she didn't have camera or a mirror"

"No, but there was water on the floor that night" Harry said.

"And the spiders" Jacob said "Remember what Aragog said? 'It's a creature we spiders fear above all others' Everytime there was an attack we saw spiders crawling out of the castle. Because they were trying to get away from the Basilisk."

"But how has the Basilisk been getting around?" Ron asked "Surley someone must've seen it"

"Hermione figured that out too" Jacob said showing the word 'pipes' written on the page. "The plumbing, That's why we heard rumbling in the walls the night Harry and I first heard it speak. It was using the pipes to get around"

"Remember what Aragog said about that girl 50 years ago? She died in the bathroom?" Harry asked "What if she never left?"

"Son of a bitch....." Jacob said realizing what Harry meant.

"Moan Myrtle" Ron said.

Just then McGonagall's voice came over the speakers.

"All students are to return to their house dormitories immediately. All teachers to the second floor corridor immediately"

"Let's go check it out" Jacob said as he and the others ran out of the hospital.

Later the boys hid behind a corner while they heard McGonagall speak.

"As you can see, the Heir of Slytherin has left another message" She said in a fearful tone. "Our worst fear has been realized. A student has been taken by the monster into the Chamber itself. The students must be sent home. I'm afraid this is the end of Hogwarts."
