Walking out of my room dressed in black pants, and a white pull over that was hugging my torso, and arms I went down into the entryway of my house to slip on a pair of shoes so that I could go over to the Harrington Residence where Hunters birthday was going to be hosted, since none of us wanted to go to his penthouse where he sleeps around, and well his parents weren't actually that nice of people.
Nico and Mia's parents were kind hearted and always there for them and later me and Kate when our own parents died that night. Riley's were there for him, but never really had rules for him, though his whole family got in a major accident in Switzerland and that was the incident that made the Niles Family unbelievably wealthy since they were all top lawyers. Hunters parents however expected a lot from him, they often compared him to me when we were younger and when they found out about the parties and drinking his dad tried to cut him off but his mom being the amazing woman she is allowed him to have his entire trust fund that still to this day was putting the owed money into.
Heather Ambrose was just one of those people that could brighten a room, I had met her a few times but with a money craving husband who was never around and expected an absolute ton from their son I was glad that Hunter was more like his mother.
That was actually how my mom got into high society New York she had met Heather Ambrose along with Aurora Harrington.
Opening the drawer for my keys I removed the key to my Rolls Royce Ghost and walked out the front door of my house, using my phone to lock the door.
Getting to the garage I opened the doors and crossed the glossy black floors towards my equally as shiny luxury cars before pulling open the door to my Ghost and sat down in the front seat.
There wasn't really a reason for me to have this car other then a fancy night on the town with the boys which normally was what it would be used for since I didn't trust the two idiots in my other cars. Nico was good because he had never spilt a slushy in the back seat of my Flying Spur.
Driving out of the garage I pressed a button to be sure that the doors were closed, before leaving to go see my friends.
I would admit that they made my life more interesting, and well I could also manage myself to not let out all of the shitty things that happened in my life because I never felt like burdening them all with that, so I always dealt with it.
Getting to the road where the Harrington's lived I spotted Hunters Aventador being closely trailed by Riley in an F12.
Nice Niles.
I may have a preference towards Ferrari's but I call that a hereditary thing because my dad owned several, and my grandfather owns a few classic one's. I even drove a few around the estate.
It also may be the reason I knew how to drive so young.
Parking in the driveway of the home I got out of the Rolls Royce and walked up to the front door to knock.
"Adrian Winters knocking on a door" Hunter muses and I give him a blank look.
"I'm not an asshole to everyone Hunter" I remark before the door opens and we are met by Mia who looked half asleep still but considering it was Saturday it was justified.
"Boungiorno Mia" I greet with a soft smile before passing her and taking off my shoes before I found both the Harrington parents in the room that was both the living room and kitchen.
"Good morning Adrian, even though it's twelve" Mia calls back before joining her dad in the living room. Mrs. Harrington had moved towards the kitchen to finish dinner, the stove oven was beeping.
I then walked over to the living room and took one of the single chairs before crossing my legs as everyone else joined up in the room.
"Riley did you bring Ava?" Mia asks when the two idiots entered the room.
As a reaction Riley blushed and I gave Hunter a look to not make any snide remarks.
I of course knew better.
"He's chasing rather then waiting, like a simp" Hunter chuckles.
"Said the boy who can't keep his dick in his pants" I reply giving Hunter a daring look to challenge what I just said.
He remained quiet and Riley muttered a damn while going into to kitchen to take a glass of water.
"Only Adrian can make him be quiet" Nico says leaning back.
"I bet Mia could too" I say covering my smirk but I see Hunter give an almost afraid look, like someone who had been caught doing something that they weren't supposed to be.
Interesting.
"I doubt that" the youngest Harrington says looking over at me as she crossed her legs while holding one of the margarita glasses filled with flavoured sparkling water since her parents made sure she didn't drink.
"I will choose to not say anything for the sake of Hunter's sanity considering it's his birthday" I say giving one of my friends a warm smile, something that I meant for him to see.
Even if I am cold all the time, and block most people out, and don't wish to have anyone near me I still had a bond with all three of the boys that I couldn't deny. They were like my family, my brothers and I'd fight a war for any or all of them if needed. It's what made all our jokes fun, and all my jokes harmless. I could never hurt any of them, and I'd probably put the person who did if I found proof in the ER for a month and my ass behind bars for a just as long.
"You remembered my birthday?" Hunter muses a smile rising to his lips. Not the normal cocky, boyish one that permeated, but one that was genuine and happy and seemed to fill the room.
"Of course I did, you're one of my best mates I remember shit like that" I say standing and walking over to him and pulling him into a bro hug which considering I didn't like touch was one of the few times I was fine with physical contact.
"Happy birthday Hunter" Riley says slapping him on the back jovially which made Hunter cough and both Nico and I to laugh lightly.
"Well I don't know about anyone else but I got you something" Mia pipes up and we all turn around to look at her while Aurora smiled endearingly in the kitchen.
"What is it?" Hunter asks and slowly bit by bit the player persona we all got used to slipped away and became the Hunter that got hidden. I may not want to admit much to many people for fear of having it used against me but Hunter and I are similar in that we created the perspective we wanted people to see then when alone it was so terribly different.
When Mia had come back from her room she held a black thin rectangular box wrapped in silver ribbon which Hunter took and opened to reveal a chain with a piece of polished stone on the end of it.
"The chain I bought but I found the stone, and did the polishing and what not, it took me a while but I figured it out" Mia says with a shrug.
"Can I give you a hug" Hunter says as he took it out of the box and connected it behind his neck.
"Yeah" Mia says and he reaches out to hug the hazelnut haired girl that seemed rather happy to be there hugging him.
The two however had a long history of being close though when we came to Thornbrook that changed Hunter went off to party to become a part of the New York Elite scene and like in Switzerland I stayed away from it, but Hunter's actions caused separation between him and Mia which was unfortunate since I could see how much they enjoyed one another's company.
"The rest of your gifts can wait till later, everyone come eat" Nico's mom says and the idiots quickly race into the dining room while the rest of us laughed and followed after them as they disappeared around the corner.
I wanted a light hearted chapter it sounded like a fun idea to me especially since the whole book is sad so I tried to add happier moments, trust me though it gets bad, comment, vote, and share. AnywaysPeace✌
